| Quote: SaintsFan "Partly, no doubt. However, the senior players are now in a collective with the two temporary coaches and so they are playing in their favoured positions which, for Meli, is on the wing (alas), and that means Foster wouldn't be playing even if he'd put in brilliant performances. Just as Makinson hasn't been playing even though he was in fine form (same for Dixon).'"
Utter rubbish! Players are playing in positions they should be and not where the idiot played them.
Makinson was been rested under Royce along with our other backs in Ade, wheeler, Meli and foster which was utter crazy.
Rush and KC have been using Meli and Ade as extra go forward like DA did which is paying off big time at the moment.

I don't think the word dropped is the correct word rush used wgen he took foster out. He is only young and needs to develop and a spell in the u20s will do him the world of good.

So you weren't one of those saying Meli was playing well at centre? That he'd been a revelation there? No, of course you weren't! Like I've said previously, Mike Appleton tweeted after the Leeds game that it was great to see Meli happy playing his rugby again on the wing. Mark Flannagan on the Superleague Show said that some of the senior players had 'stepped up and shown their leadership qualities' since Royce left, which obviously implies they were doing neither while he was here. You will have noted that a few senior players are now playing in their expressed preferred positions, eg Meli on the wing, Wilkin at loose, etc. That doesn't mean they are playing in the best positions for them or, more importantly, for the team. Just that they prefer playing there. That more than suggests they have had a say in where they play, which is exactly what I posited.
Quote: St pete "Makinson was been rested under Royce along with our other backs in Ade, wheeler, Meli and foster which was utter crazy.'"
Had Makinson not been dropped for the last two games - a guy who was in form and playing well, so no reason to drop him - he would be better prepared to step in tomorrow to cover for Wello. As it is now he missed one week completely and played one week in an u20s loss, so he won't be as match ready. By rotating the squad Royce was keeping as many of his players as possible fresh should injuries hit (clearly he hadn't anticipated two bans in one go).
Quote: St pete "Rush and KC have been using Meli and Ade as extra go forward like DA did which is paying off big time at the moment.'"
Ade's been fantastic. But he was fantastic last season too until he suffered his snapped achilles. Ade's form has nothing to do with the change in coaching staff, just getting back to match fitness. At the time of his injury Royce said he needed Ade for his go forward and it was Royce who suggested that Ade be re-signed for two years, something that not many fans on here were pleased about towards the end of last season when Makinson was doing wonders out on that wing. Obviously you have forgotten.
Meli has occasionally taken the ball forward, this is true, but that won't last. It never does with Meli. He will pick the smallest bloke on the pitch and pass to him rather than take it up himself. Everybody knows this because he's always done it, sometimes across to Wello near the tryline causing fans to call him names from the terraces. Again, obviously you have forgotten.
I haven't.

Royce was resting backs every week, WTF was all that about? Gary wheeler got man of the match, signed new deal and then royce rested him!
Rush and KC have gone with what is best for the team, they knew we was struggling with go forward and used the old trick of big powerful wingers coming in and acting as forwards and our go forward has improved.
Do you think wello new found form is just based on Royce being sacked? Well it's not, he's being used less in trying to clear our line as the wingers ate now doing his donkey work which allows wello to do the things he does best and get into postions he's getting in.
It's pretty clear to see that rush is using the Anderson style that served us so well and it's working so far.

Nothing new found about it. He was great at Bradford. He was great last year too, before his achilles problem. I've no idea why you think that question was relevant to what I said?
As for Gary Wheeler, since he has now been absent for two matches due to injury do you really need to ask why Royce rested him? Royce said why himself: he wanted to try and avoid injuries to keep his players fresh for later in the season as he felt they were out on their feet by that time and that is why they were losing the Grand Finals. Royce wanted to help them to win the Grand Final. He was quite clear about that on more than one occasion. That was his reason for rotating the squad. Injuries can't be avoided altogether, obviously, but he had it right where Wheeler was concerned, as we all know.

| Saintsfan you blind faith for the last pillock that coached us is laughable. We were f@@@ing boring, constantly repeated the same mistakes, discipline was woeful & selections frankly mind boggling. Resting players was a luxury we couldnt afford given our need for points, performances & league position.
His dictorial style of coaching left us predictable, boring & incapable of scoring points.
Cant believe anyone was happy watching that e. The GF was in the past, when Graham & Robys performances papered over the cracks. Good riddence, obviously the players felt the same.

Strange, you've be calling for makinson to replace wello at fullback so your contradicting yourself.
What a terrible and shocking idea of resting backs. Makinson, wheeler and foster was constantly rested, they are young lads! WTF!!!
You look very stupid over the last few weeks with your backing of Royce Simmons and having arguments every day because you won't just admit he was total gash, the worst coach we've had, totally clueless, boring idiot!

Eh? I didn't call for Makinson to replace Wello, at least not in the post you replied to. I want Makinson in the first team on a weekly basis, yes, because he is a very, very good young player who was doing nothing wrong. We all wanted Makinson to replace Wello, you included. And I do want Makinson to replace Wello. But just now I'd be more than happy for him to replace Meli, who should not have been put back on the wing in the first place, and most definitely not at the expense of Makinson.

Now you are just being an a r s e. You've changed your mind completely about Foster, for instance.

I looked stupid when I said that Lance Hohaia will make a good halfback. People took the p i s s and you especially did, saying he was no halfback, etc, etc. Hey. I was right. He looks good at halfback. I looked stupid when I said some of our senior players needed a kick up the backside as they weren't bending their backs. People took the p i s s then too, probably including you. Hey. I was right. They are now bending their backs.
People taking the p i s s out of me is par for the course. However, quite often I turn out to be right. I expect those same people to then experience selective anmesia, which they do. As you are doing now. That and you are your usual drunk self of course.

How have I changed my mind on Jamie?
Im still not convinced that lance is a halfback but I held held my hand up after the Leeds game and said maybe I was wrong but one game don't make a player. The following week lance was averse, his kicking was totally shocking! I'm willing to give him a chance to prove himself at halfback.
The difference between me and , I'm willing to accept if I'm wrong and won't stay bitter. Your that bitter I get the feeling your just waiting for a defeat so you can bag rush and KC and tell us all how good Royce was.

Which season are you talking about here?
Are you saying that, for example, our discipline was woeful against the Catalans Dragons? Against Salford? Against London? Did we make loads of mistakes in those games? What was wrong with the selections in those games? I'm sure you won't answer and it really doesn't matter if you do or don't.
Personally, I'm more concerned with what is going to happen once the big games are over with, the ones that require a proper coaching team in place, the ones when maybe our senior players don't feel quite up to doing the work, when talk of pride in the shirt and all that bollox has worn off. There will be plenty of those occasions. I'm just keeping my feet on the ground in anticipation of them.

If Royce was such a good coach why couldn't he give the senior players a kick up the backside?

It makes a change from being concerned if we will a game at all, no matter who we are playing!
