First of all it wasn't a shoulder charge. The camera angle from the contact side clearly shows O'Loughlin's arm round the player. Neither did Silverwood call it as a shoulder charge. He says "I know the player was falling but you still have a duty of care" That's why he put it on report. As for trying to make it out to be anything more than an attempted tackle that he fell into...good God! You lot across that side of the lump are getting soft! Get a grip!

From the video I've seen, which is presumably the same one that's going around, it seemed pretty obvious that McIlorum bit Wellens... Tetanus jabs will be needed.

Freeze frames take it completely out of context as you have to look how the players got into that position.
Watching the clips on you tube I can eye how people come to the conclusion there was a bite. In reality the video doesn't prove anything except Wellens lead with the elbow into MM's face.
It he was bitten as Wellens seems to claim there will be a bite mark on his arm to show the ref which will be in his report and he will be charged. If he didn't here won't be any marks and he won't be charged. We will have to wait until Tuesday to find out.

The freeze frame clearly shows not just Wellens' arm in McIlorum's mouth, but a clear tension of the muscles in McIlorum's face, making it fairly obvious that he was 'biting down'. What more context do you need? For all of the Wigan fans' post on this board about how Saints fans are blind/biased/blinkered/deluded, you guys really do seem to have trouble accepting this incident.  |
