He's only 28 and he still represents New Zealand. That was an awfully daft comment to make.

He does, although I've never know him to be the prominant long kicking game. He's a goal kicker too.

| id have expected him to do the same kind of thing that Sam Tomkins does at Wigan.
Named at FB but then moving into the halves when on the attack. I thought Wello would move to 13 to accommodate his age and then L-Ho would fill in at FB. I think Gaskell and Lomax do need playing time together but they are getting plenty of it now and producing some great performances from what i hear. It'd be silly of Royce IMO to break it up.
L-Ho would give J-Lo some great experience but id prefer Gaskell to play alongside him as its the long term plan.

| It gives us that element of experience in the backs that we are missing.
However another question here is overseas quota. Now I'm not sure who is a KOLPAC player but.
Lance, Perry, Flannery, Puletua, Meli.
5 into 4 don't go, Lance, Perry and Meli are all signed up for next year.
So either we get Meli to do the old passport switch or Flannery/Puletua are going end of season.
Any ideas?
The obvious selection would be Flannery to leave but it maybe that Puletua decides to go.

Meli, Puletua and Soliola are Kolpak. Perry and Flannery are quota. We have plenty of spots left to play with.

Indeed it does, anyway, even if we were upto the quota limit, we could just do a HKR and ignore it

| I'd be very surprised if flannery got another extension,we've got enough non quota options in the backrow

Agreed, as an overseas player he must be on a decent wage too. We could recruit somebody from within who wouldn't be that much worse than Flannery but on a much less wage. Magennis in particular looks to be improving with game time after a shaky start. Hopefully he's got over his injury and will prove to be an asset.

| I'd have no problem with that, but I must admit I am far from a Flannery fan. I thought the previous years he has played have been wasted, great tackler, but you can get that from Dixon and the like, for alot less.
However this year he seams a new player.
Whether that's an effect of him not playing loose/centre.
Whether it's an injury free run
Whether it's playing for a contract ie 1 year rolling.
What ever the reason he seams much improved this year, so I would be tempted to offer a contract depending on other signings and how the likes of dixon and megennis etc progress.
