Him leaving now would correspond with Pryce being fit enough to play.

It's possible that the club have delayed this decision to a) negotiate a fee for release or b) to ensure that we have at least one halfback on the pitch with more than 4 games experience.

In both cases Eastmond may well have hoped the deal would be finalised last week, doesn't mean it was him delaying it. He's kept fairly quiet on the whole subject (certainly moreso than Cunningham did all those years back) and all the talking has been by the club, who are going to paint the situation in their favour.

Apparently Stevo has claimed in his column in the League Express this morning that Saints are set to announce the signing of an 'overseas international halfback' as a replacement for Kyle. Pinch of salt methinks, but it would be nice.

Interesting. Knowing Stevo it could be 110% fabrication, but it wouldn't surprise me if behind the scenes Kyle let the club know he'd be leaving possibly from the day he signed his last deal.
