We have lost so many games over the years due to not having a goalkicker, it is so important against good teams. He is easily good enough to be playing out there whilst we make use of his kicking talent, and still has a lot of development both physically and skillfully.

However, will he be willing to gain a shedload of muscle if this will affect his Beckham-like appearance? icon_wink.gif

Agreed, a solid 4 or 5 year contract would do nicely. I think he's done enough and shown plenty potential to be included in saints' future plans.

IMO it's good business by saints and that's not taking anything away from gardners current form.

I would think that the emerence of Foster will mean the end of Gardner's stay at Saints, especially since we seem to have a bit of depth to back him up. He'll get a decent contract elsewhere in superleague, mind, so don't worry Ade.

Quote: FearTheVee "Far less experienced? A mighty 6 SL games less than Foster over 2 years?'"

Mcgilvray played basketball until he was 18, and tuck up rugby league after that. In comparison Foster has been playing the game since the age of 14. I'd say that's a pretty big difference in experience between the two of them.

Quote: FearTheVee "No place in this league for solid wingers who finish well and kick goals. Unless they play for Wigan, in which case they become Man Of Steel contenders.

p.s. Mcgilvray busts more tackles and makes more clean breaks than Pat too if you go by JM's 2011 stats and PR's "Man Of Steel" winning 2010 season; I suppose you could say "his kick returns and general play are far more dangerous to the opposistion than what Richards ever offers".'"

Mcgilvray has been the standout winger in SL for me so far, so his stats don't surprise me one bit. The fact that Jermaine's stats hold up so well against Pat the best winger in SL, just goes to show what a good player Mcgilvray is. The same however can't be said for Foster when compared to either Pat or Jermaine, his stats are far less impressive. Well apart from the goal kicking one's, but you'd expect that from a goal kicking one trick pony. icon_wink.gif

I don't want this to appear as though I've got something against Foster because I haven't. Although his hair is pretty gay. I simply asked the original question wondering if you tuck Fosters superb kicking game off him, does he posses anymore strings to his bow. And to be honest I got the answer I expected, solid in all departments but superb in none. But hell you can make a career out of that, just ask Ade Gardner or our own Darrel Goulding.

Wow, I didn't know that! That's pretty impressive, fair play.

I didn't know it until a couple of weeks ago, but they mentioned it before the Giants Wire game. So I saved it to the memory bank.

pound for pound roby is easily the best player in the league and is one of the very few that does not go down easy, it always seems to take a least 3 to 4 players to take him down

If I had to pick between McGilvary & Foster I'd pick Foster. No bias at all. If you only rate a player on how many times he goes the full length of the field then you're about 12 years old or a bit simple.

Actually, that was put to him on Boots'n'All one week and he said he played soccer, not basketball.
