| Quote: St pete "I agree he's been given a hard time by some saints fans but he's never played really poor but he's also never played like the half people expected.
He always gives 100% and people thought he could just slot in as a play maker but I knew he couldn't play that role.
I think he will he a great addition as utility player off the bench, he's made for that position in this modern game.'"
This or fullback was what he should have been brought in for. I think effort wise he cant really be knocked but I think some of the performances he's churned out at 6 have been terrible at best. Not a massive surprise that he's improved playing alongside a proper 7 though

| Quote: The Chief "Would people rather have Travis burns for 2-3 seasons or take a punt trying to prise someone like Ryan Hampshire away from Wigan? Not all three of the youngsters can play 6 at the same time. I suspect least one of those 3 is going to be looking for regular first team action next season.'"
I'd be surprised if the goons would be willing to sell one of their star youngster to us just yet. Of the 3 lads one of them will cover/rotate 9, one will cover/rotate Bowen at 1 and the halves and the other will be the starting 6.

No doubt, but it just further makes the point I was trying to make, SC is not an issue at the moment, yet were losing a lot of fluff from the squad and not much that needs replacing, which means the money can be spent bringing in quality players where we need most (like Burns.)
On a slightly different note, is it just me, or does the outline of Bradford's next signing on twitter look like Paul clough?

| Saints have made an 80k bid for Burns and Rovers are 'listening', apparently.

| @GaryCarter_1979: St Helens have made a cash bid - worth about £80,000 - for Hull KR's Travis Burns. Rovers are considering it.

The tweet further down from Mascarandy ( Saints Media Manager ) would suggest otherwise.

| I wonder why season ticket renewal has not come up yet from Saints ?
An extra £10 from everyone could see this transfer fee a probability?
QUESTION:
Would you be willing to pay more for some decent signings

Or the fact we were already projected to break even, and then sky gave everyone an extra 500k probably helps...
That said, I dont understand why clubs dont offer an optional extra when buying season tickets for a transfer fund - a tenner extra, with an extra ticket in the back which acts as a tenner off the next season ticket if you werent happy with any signings the club made. Club builds a small fund for "extra" signings, fans feel they actively contributed to the team - win win.

| He'd be a good signing if it comes off.
Who'd be replacing Soliola. Manu and Lanffranchi?
Vea has signed so are there any forwards likely to join your club?
Perhaps Burns signing and living in the St Helans area would persuade Walsh to stay.

I think the club mentioned something along the lines of us having enough young forwards as replacements.

Laffranchi (confirmed): Unlikely to be replaced like for like, we have 7 props on contract next year anyway with the way Richards and Thompson have stepped up. Most, if not all of his money will go to covering Burns wage (assuming rumours to be the case.)
Manu (unconfirmed): not yet confirmed to be going, but assuming he goes I assume his replacement will be Vea. Hes supposedly on a big wage though, and Vea probably wont though. I'd hope the rest of the money will go to tying up the rest of the youngsters (Jones, Charnock, Savelio etc) and another depth signing in the back row.
Soliola (confirmed): is replaced by Vea if Manu stays, else is completely unreplaced at the moment, and we should have enough cap space from him and others to bring some more quality in. Currently our back row options are somewhat limited, even assuming one of lms or Thompson drop back into lock. Hopefully Greenwood will continue his development and make a grab for a first team shirt, we should see Savelio in the back row next year imo a couple of times, but or senior options are Wilkin and Flanaghan - both of which dont carry much running threat.
Others rumoured to be leaving (and currently be included in our 25 man cap) include: Hohaia, Flanaghan, Wheeler and McDonnell

Soliola is hard to replace and Vea covers his position (prob less money) but unlikely to be as good?
Manu in my opinion has never lived up to his playing days at Hull a solid pro but for me won't be missed
Laffranchi we have cover for and although sad to see him go his time was up i'm affraid
I'm hoping if we get Travis that another forward could be signed as i'm sure we'll have cap room
Wheeler prob going as well no one will miss him?
