What an inspiration to everybody the bloke was and should always be. To fight the way he has whilst always thinking of others and raising the money he has for charity is simply amazing. He will always be a hero to everyone involved in the game of rugby league.

Just seen this on the virtual terrace too. A sad day, but I'm glad that he will get a huge tribute from the England and Hull Fans today.
My thoughts are with his family and all those who were privileged to know him personally.

I only ever saw him on the Rugby field or during charity events but he was an inspiration for many and will continue to be so.

Sad news indeed, RIP.

Just heard the news from John Wilkin, a bit of a shock, Steve Prescott legend on and off the field, will be known for a very very long time for his charity achievements.......R.I.P.

A very sad day for everyone associated with RL. May I send my sincere condolences to Steve's family. The guy was a true legend and should be recognised by the RFL.

Great player and even greater man. Condolences to his family and friends.

Gutted about this. I really hoped he had beaten his illness. The RFL should step forward and honour him by renaming the Man of Steel after him. He has been an inspiration to many of us for many years.

Deepest Condolences to his Family at this time, Steve fought a brave fight, may He now Rest in Peace. A real sad loss, Steve joins others who suffered and fought bravely to the end like Mike Gregory
