He looks OK, but I'm not really sure why we're signing if we're re-signing Gardner. Do we really need 4 wingers in the squad?

Not in a salary capped sport no. Push comes to shove to give a young lad a run out. Keeping Gardner a player who is well past his very average best in the squad is a mistake as is wasting cap on a winger who wont shift the 2 current first choices.

How old is he?
Will he be able to go out on loan, I know Leigh have a policy of not taking any players over the age of 24 on loan.

I wonder if the U19's will be scrapped next season in favour of an U18 and U21's (with overage players allowed in the 21's)

The problem with Beaumont is that doing that could take two or three years.

What has Dawson done to get interest from Saints? seems very unremarkable to me.

I think we've got to assume its come from Brown's work with him behind the scenes at Huddersfield. The fact that he's never got near threatening their starting 13 has got to be a concern. I take it there aren't any off the field circumstances that limited his progress there?

How do you know how close he has been to breaking into their regular starting lineup?

He never plays despite them getting injuries from time to time?

He's played a handful of games for them this season. It isn't as though they've had injuries in the wing and they've been picking unknown lads from the academy before him. He's obviously just a backup player and he hasn't had much opportunity there.

So what do we want with him then? We've got average squad players of our own.

He's a backup player at Huddersfield. He may start as that with us, but who knows what will happen?

I am not saying he is a brilliant signing as I don't recall ever seeing him play. But the flip side to that is that you can't say he is a bad signing (yet), as I assume you haven't seen him play either.

Now come on!!!!! You know that's never stopped him before.

Sometimes a player needs to move to kick start their career.

Ryan Atkins and Joe Wardle are two who spring to mind, maybe Dawson can follow their footsteps perhaps he can't.
