| Jury is out on this one. In an attacking sense, we won't be able to moan as much about lacking pace with Makinson and Turner in there. His defense worries me, but he's a typical Brown signing and hopefully he can improve him in the way he has with the Huddersfield outside backs.
Do we think that's it now for recruitment?

Like Shenton, no sour grapes from me, never been impressed with him.
Manu on the other hand is a massive loss and IMO the best SL signing made next season for any club.

| Strikes me as suspect in defence and average to good in attack. I hope he proves me wrong as he will no doubt be a big chunk of our SC.
Would have preferred a big new prop or two.

| He's faster than Shenton, as you saw earlier this year. But every other aspect of his game is (atm) worse than Shenton.
Who's going to be his winger? He'll need somebody experienced to keep his head on the ball and stop him from jumping out the line or being attracted inside.
Interesting you seem to think he's going to play centre, he's always maintained he wants to play back row.

| He'll do a similar job to Shenton on far less money too, so I think it's good business for Saints.
I can see him improving under brown, though.

| Not a good signing for me, not as good as our current youngsters but hope I can be proved wrong. Just think from Lyon to Gidley to Shenton to Turner can we get much lower?

| Jury's out - might prove to be a great signing but probably more than likely not. It seems to me like we're very definitely overloading and spending all of our money in the pack for next season and economising in the backs by downgrading from Shenton to Turner... Probably not a bad move given the appalling lack of back talent out there at the moment, and a given amount of cash definitely buys you more value in forwards than backs right now, but a sad sign of the times nevertheless.

| I'm fine with this. He's only 23 and he hasn't been playing in the centres for all that long, but he has raw athleticism, which is something that our backline has been sorely missing. He's a project, and while he won't be on peanuts I'm sure he'll be a significant mark down from Shenton in price.

| If he's intelligent enough to improve his game, he could prove to be a very good signing.
Raw, but the potential is certainly there. Could easily go either way but I don't see it as much of a downgrade on the 2011/2012 Shenton TBH and if we've saved cap as a result, it's the right move.

Hasn't been playing centre all that long? He's played there for 3 years with us, and at Salford before then.
The guy who said he'll be similar to Shenton but on less money has probably got it bang on.
His try scoring record is pretty good for us though.

| If he's no good, he won't get on the team.
We are rumoured to be resigning Meli.
Gardner will be on the last year of his contract so usually ups his form.
Jones is looking good.
Makinson is looking good.
We rumoured to be resigning Wellens.
We have Swift and Wheeler in reserve.

Wow, you've changed your tune from the VT where you described him as one of England's best centres.

He's played there for atleast 4 years.
He's had the occasional game for us at stand-off (due to injuries) but was never that good there. He's said that he'd like to play at Loose Forward but has never managed to earn himself a place there.
He's a strong guy and can drive through a tackle, he's pretty fast in a sprint, but he's severely let down by his defense and defensive positioning. He regularly shoots out of the line but fails to make a good tackle, and he often leaves his winger exposed by coming in too much.
He'll be good for you near the oppositions tryline but he needs to make massive improvements elsewhere in his game.
You'll get some good moments from him, but you'll also get some bad ones too.
At the start of the season, and prior to the injury, he was being kept out of the side by Tony Martin.

| I'm happy with Turner. He is a natural athlete and he's coming to a better club, under NB I think he will improve massively. He has the ability to break tackles and go length of the field surely this is what everyone on here has been asking for?

Not when you look at the post in context. We were discussing an NRL club being in talks with an English centre. Out of the English centres in Super League, I'll think you'll find it hard to suggest Turner isn't one of the best. It's not a very long list.
