| Quote: Rob Wire "Whose going to be filling the void left by James Graham ? Thats one big gap you'll need to plug, the metres he makes per game will be hard to replace.
Laffranchi LMS Clough and with alot of back rowers I suspect Puletua will move to Prop, however we're being linked with Flower (likely to go to Hudds) and O'Hara
Anthony Laffranchi is a good signing, no nonsense with a high work rate. Still think you need some serious work doing to that backline to make it a threat, Jodie Broughton or Tom Briscoe would be prolific for you if you could put them with a class centre in the mould of Lyon or Gidley, yeh i know they are hard to find but you have found them before.
I've been saying for 18 months Saints need someone like Broughton but saying that Makinson isn't slow either and we mustn't forget only just starting his career.
Obviously you need to sort out which are going to be your starting half backs and stick with them, you have a few options. Getting the half backs right as you know is important, Rangi Chase would have been ideal as you need some X factor in the half backs but not sure what your quota situation is at the min.
We'll have Hohaia, Lomax, Gaskell, Wheeler and according to reports Pryce aswell. Who plays where is the million dollar question'"

| If Leon stays it is a sure fire guarantee that either Lomax or Hohaia is down to play fullback next season.

We don't:
Wilkin
Flanagan
Flannery
Moore (If he stays)
Soliola
Clough, Maggennis, Puletua and Laffranchi are now props.
Ashurst and Dixon aren't worth dicussing and will leave IMO.

| I see the recruitment for next year at best as maintaining the quality of this years squad, and potentially because of the loss of Graham leaving us weaker. The only way we will improve is if one of the young players really comes good. The only one with that potential appears to be wheeler, who will not only need to improve his performances, but obviously his ability to string together more than 2 games without breaking. Otherwise I see us remaining 3rd best behind Wigan and Warrington and hoping no other team overhauls us.

| Laffranchi is a very good player. He's big, tough and has a unreal workrate, if he's a out and out prop is another thing and time will tell.
Lance is the sort of player we are lacking at the moment, hes fast off the mark and can make a break out of nothing but if he's a halfback is another thing. He's pretty awful under the high ball.
Flanagan, I've not seen much of him since his first year in the nrl but it's obvious he's got a great work rate.
I think they are 3 good signings but I find it strange that we've signed a backrow to replace Graham in the front row and we've signed a fullback to play in the halves.

If we re-sign Pryce, then the signing of Hohaia suddenly looks alot stronger as he'll be able to combine with Pryce rather than take the lead role with Lomax. I still think Lomax would be better used at 1, but I also think Makinson could play there too. He's a real talent Makinson, I've been very impressed with him and I reckon he'll turn out to be a good 'un for us whether he's on the wing, Centre or at full back.

I agree, I think lomax would be good option at fullback and pryce and hohaia in the halves.
I also think makinson is a good young kid and looks much mire likely to make a break than foster does.

I would agree with Griffin (rated him for some time and has the size that we lack) and Flower ( who really impressed me with how he physically stood up to Perry a few weeks back. I would not be that interested in signing O'Hara we don't want to become an Australian retirement home.
I would say that Lloyd White has got to be a good bet. You can never have too many playmakers in my book and that lad does have a bit of x factor about him.

I'm also a big fan of griffin. He's big, tough and carries the ball really well. He'd be a good signing. Has he signed for anyone?
I also like flower and O'hara who'd both do a good job.

| Eighteen months ago I would have said Lomax is the obvious replacement for Wellens. Now I'm thinking he needs to be kept as close to the ruck as possible where his footwork creates a nightmare for any big forward taking a sly breather,
In truth the question of Wellens' replacement should have been addressed as far back as four years ago. McManus has had his eye off the ball as far as recruitment is concerned for way too long. And entering next season without any kind of a replacement for Graham could well be his biggest blunder yet.

Our lack of recruitment over the last 4 years as set us back and put us now behind Wigan and Warrington and I'm sure they won't make the mistake we've made.
To many good players have gone and not been replaced. I know the likes of scully, longy, Lyon and co are near impossible to replace but we should have got the next best players possible.
