Yes some credit has to go to the Dr for taking him in again, I just hope Saints thank the Dr & Salford for releasing him to us.

According to the Salford site, he was out of contract anyway.

| It will be interesting to see how our attack differs in 2015. Cunningham has looked after this area for a while so the addition of Burns and Long should give us a different look

| rlSeems to be properly official now.rl
I'm very excited by this. Sean was responsible for developing the slick attack of the Smith, Holdsworthh, Patten midfield triangle at Salford, which in turn has been a major factor into SL's redevelopment of the attacking fullback role (IMO).
Phil Veivers plonk all the praise for that attack at Long's door. If he can do that at Salford with Smith, Holdsworth and Patten, imagine what he can do with Walsh, burns and Lomax when they're supported by the Saints pack and 3/4s.
Plus, he might help give us a bit more attitude on match day. Long was (amongst many things) a winner on the pitch, hopefully that can rub off a little.

| Welcome back Sean. I genuinely still love you with all my heart. Just keep it that way, no leaving the club under a cloud.

| This was on my wish list early last season, Longy has had many highs and lows and has recovered well from the low points in his career. He will have a massive influence on everyone at the club and I,m sure he is going to give it his best shot.
The only concern is how long it will take to get everyone singing off the same hymn sheet.

I would say that came from Michael Maguire at Wigan, because it came from Australia, Melbourne in particular with Slater.

Quote: Offside Monkey "This is brilliant IMO. If he can pick up his career the way it was going when he was attack coach at Salford, we could be in for some very exciting rugby next year.'"
Many people, myself included, seem to have assumed that Long is coming back as our attacking coach. Seems a little odd therefore that he is actually our defensive coach. He was never the greatest of defenders from what I remember???

| Defending was our biggest problem mid season, so I suppose this is more of a priority. However I should imagine he will have some input on set plays.

I would imagine that coaching defence at SL would be more about defensive patterns and how to combat a particular attacking threat rather than tackling technique. (although I always thought his defence was very under-rated, particular his cover defence).
Every one has been saying Longy is very smart when it comes to attacking patterns and also spotting opposition plays - could well be a case of poacher turned game keeper.
