| Quote wakey_saint="wakey_saint"Whilst we don't seem to be playing well at the moment, we were in a similar situation last year and look how that turned out in the playoffs...we seemed to coast last night not going all out at times but always knew game was in bag.
Silverwood didn't help, his constant whistle blowing for both teams stopped either really getting a roll on and that does contribute to it being such a poor game.
Even if we don't make it to OT this year, looks like a 3rd place finish in SL with 2/3 of the season being coached by an academy coach and a bloke with no prior coaching experience and I think that's a decent achievement...Especially when looking back to the bulls game at odsal when I said I would have settled for anywhere in top 6.
2012 has been a difficult year for us with moving to the new ground, not having a recognised coach etc and I think a better judgement on where we are going to be moving forward will be next year when NB comes in...just think we should try and stay behind the lads moving into the playoffs rather than slating them - after all I would take boring games all day long if it gets the job done and could bring the trophy home'"
The voice of reason. We've done a great job considering our situation after 8 games of the season. We're realistically in no worse a position for the playoffs than we were last season and although O/T is unlikely it's still not beyond the bounds of reason which is an achievement in itself. I've said for years that most Saints fans who scream from the rafters about our "lack of ambition" and acceptance of sub-standard are in desperate need of a few [ireally[/i bad seasons to reset their ridiculously high and unrealistic expectations. The problem is that only us old 'uns can remember what it's like to support an [iactually[/i bad Saints team back in the '80s - most on here have only ever known trophies and success and take a trophy a season as their birthright that doesn't need to be earnt and should just happen by default. We're way behind the curve as far as the W's are concerned but that's just the way it has to be sometimes in a salary-capped sport with limited talent, especially when you've just built a spanky new stadium. And we are tedious and awful to watch at the minute but it's winning us games and I will continue to support my team regardless and am grateful that things could very very easily be much, much worse.

| We really do seem to be stuck in some form of "neutral zone" at the moment playing basic safety first rugby which has worked against most teams with the exception of Wigan and Warrington.
My main concern is carrying this mindset over into the next season, its not Saints natural way of playing rugby.
The other concern is the development and utilisation of Makinson and Lomax and perhaps we should include Gaskell as well, they have stagnated and looked to have better potentional from last years viewpoint than this year.
We really do need a big change mentally and physically next season, I would be very suprised if we reach a grand final this year with our standard of play.

I've watched saints from the age of 6 and I'm now 32 but I was totally bored last night. It was one of the worst I've ever seen and ended up not even paying attention to the game.
It don't matter how much or how little you've watched saints, nobody can deny that was total rubbish last week.
I was very impressed with the London winger (Dixon?)

Me too, far more than the big lump Omari Caro on the other wing who it has been rumoured Saints have been after.
Would be typical of the modern day Saints to go for the big crap lad on the wing rather than the fast elusive type
Dixon has scored 14 trys for Broncos this season. So has a better strike rate than Makinson, despite being in a cellar dwellar team. Looks a better player as well.
Only turned 20 this month.
Got 41 tackle busts and 10 clean breaks to his name and made 2251 metres.
Weak points are errors with 26 and 28 missed tackles
Makinson for comparison is 21 years old, scored 10 tries, 25 tackle busts and 9 clean breaks and made 1585 metres
Defensively has 20 errors and 18 missed tackles.
When you consider that Makinson will not have been put under as much pressure defensively as Dixon due to London being rubbish then the error count and missed tackle count stand up quite well.
Dixon is definitely one to watch in the years ahead.

| I have heard Omari Caro is signing for HKR. It was he who won the fastest man competition recently at Headingley. I saw him play recently in London V Wigan U20's and he was really quick, scoring two superb long range tries, but he was very raw, particularly defensively.
I do like the looks of Dixon and Dan Sarginson from the Broncos, both look very exciting players.

I did like the look of Sarginson earlier this season, has a great step and turn of pace. But he was very quiet last night and has been in most games recently. Was a bit disappointed in him.
Dixon was a real livewire.

We have never met and therefore you haven't a clue what I am like so your comment is silly, frankly.
Quote SomersetSaintThe people who have watched Saints all their lives, or any other team for tht matter, accept the ups and downs as part of life, and move on. '"
Long term fans do leave the game you know. I know of two who have done. A relative is one of them. So again that is a silly comment.
As ever, people reinvent what I say. I have simply said that Saints are boring to watch. Who said anything about losing interest? I've continued to pay my season ticket, and have just renewed it, in spite of spending a lot of time unemployed this season. I'm fully aware that teams have their ups and downs and this season is a down for Saints but it comes as no surprise because - if you remember - I didn't think it was a good idea to put Rush and KC in charge in the first place. So nothing that has happened this season has been a surprise to me.
I started out concerned about Nathan Brown's appointment, given his tendency to want to go home and Huddersfield's tendency to slumps, but now I can't wait for him to do something with what is a better team than we are seeing under the present coaching set up even if it isn't a team of world beaters. Not least I want to see our young players back to something resembling the form they were in last season.
Saints are boring me rigid. But that is just this season. Hopefully next season they will play better because hopefully they will be coached better.

I thought that last night was his first game back in a while having been out injured?

| Sarginson has had a pretty bad injury so if he has been poor he can be forgiven for it.
Didn't see the game so can't comment. I do share the pessimism regarding the playoffs though unfortunately.

Caro is no lump. I'm told he's as quick as they come, in the odd times he has the ball he looked pretty handy.
I checked dixons stats also, very impressive, he was also youth player of the year for London last year.
I think Dixon is well worth a punt.
Dixon is definitely one to watch in the years ahead.'"

Sarginson didn't play last night which is maybe why some people thought he had a quiet game!
