| Quote: berro's best mate "from a fc fan who was there last night, saints looked a tired outfit, totally lacking a leader, players who just arent upto it no more for a team who is regularily a winning outfit....wellens,cunningham are past there best, hargreaves and clough are mediocre alonng with foozzard who is way past his best.......devout of ideas, this is a serious kick up the ar*e for all who are associated with saints....
this not a knee-jerk reaction by anymeans, but facts dont lie, you looked bloody awful in patches last night, a side that used to wipe the floor with nearly all superleague teams in my opinion has come to an end, the domination of saints has halted somewhat....
a transitional period is what id call it, cunningham is set to go,long and sculthorpe gone, the magic traingle is ceasing to exist...........sort it out saints before its to late and we have another bradford on our hands.....you were second best last nite by a couttry mile, only scoring when fc were down to 12 men...time for potter to go?? maybe thats a tad early but the signs are not good im afraid'"
It's not a knee-jerk, it's a continuation of our inept performances last season pal.
Potter is completely clueless.

Cunningham looks to be carrying a lot of "padding"'"
I thought he looked quite trim, relative to last season.

Surely we can't be bitter and deluded? That is a paradox.
The fact you can't converse with Warrington fans says more about you, than them.

| maybe the poor performance could be down to a lack of preparation really.
you have not played one super league side in a friendly and probably didnt get out of first gear in the friendlies you played.
Surely you should have played a super league side in a friendly close to the start of the season?

| I didn't boo as I dont consider it constructive in any way.
However , the thread starter is kind of missing the point. This isnt about the first game of the season, having watched Saints since 1975 and seen some pretty poor sides in that period the one thing we always saw was footballing flair and plenty of points scored , even if the opposition scored more ! What we have had served up for a big chunk of last season and in this seasons opener is a side that has no flair, no creativity , no pace and frankly not much of a clue. We have not topped 16 points in a game since July 2009. Its simply going to drive fans away in droves and I know a number of long term season ticket holders who have simply said until Potter goes they are giving it a miss.
Finances are tight in many households at the moment and people will not shell out their hard earned cash in order to be bored rigid. Super League last season was pretty boring in general and Saints more boring than the average.
I do think people are too quick to boo. As a set of supporters we have had more to cheer about in the last 14 years or so than most will enjoy in a lifetime. Unfortunately there is a generation that knows only success and they probably make up the majority of those that chose to express their disatisfaction in that manner.
Some of us realise that these things go in phases and there are perhaps other more important priorities at the moment other than lifting pots- the new ground and financial stability being two.
The harcore will stick with it through the thin but the very least we expect is to be entertained even if we dont fill the trophy cabinet.

yesterday why i always want saints to lose and i have been reminded today of your fans' total arrogance. LONG may your 1 losing game of run of form continue.'"
Have to agree. Sport runs in cycles and now it's all down hill from here for Saints though I still think they'll be top-four this year.

Hull were always going to be up for it last night and you can only play as well as the opposition allow you to. I wouldn't be reaching for the razor blades just yet.'"
it isnt just 1 game though.....it is since July last year that we have failed to play anywhere near Super League standard.

You still got to the Grand Final. You want to put up with some of the dross we've been served up the past few years.

There were strong signs of that sort of fog an hour before kickoff. Even those that had already paid for a ticket would be reluctant to go. I was seriously considering going and watching the second half in the pub, the view was that bad (and so were Saints tbh).
£19 for adults, would you honestly spend that for a game like that?

| I can understand some of the Dummy-spitting that went on at the end, though I don't condoneit. We had our s well and truly handed to us on a plate last night. Longy looks an inspired signing for FC and a massive mistake on Mcmanus' part in letting him go.

We had Long last season and he didn't really make a difference. We're just not playing an attacking brand of rugby anymore. It's really boring to watch us these days and I don't think there's a quick fix for this.
