| I think something that is underappreciated in Quinlan is how good his positioning is in defence. His tackling is poor, but a lot of the kicks tonight are kicks that would have caught Lomax or McDonnell out of position.
I've been a critic of Masoe on the basis of his performances this year, but he's earned a spot in the team tonight. He was everywhere, and I think for me the encouraging thing was his eagerness. There was one set in the first half where he made 3 or 4 tackles in a row. He was also the first to two loose balls. For a big man, that's the sort of thing that shows he's willing to do the hard stuff.

Aye, it looks as though 2nd is the absolute best we can hope for, and we'd need Cas to beat a no doubt very motivated Wigan to get that. You never know, though.

In a way it's a pity we play before the other 3.

Right. The following happens, we finish top:
a) we beat Wire by 64 points.
b) Hudds beat Leeds by 1pt.
c) Cas win at Wigan
If we want to finish 2nd, we need either a) to beat Wire, Hudds to beat Leeds and Cas to beat Wigan (score irrelevant) Or b) beat Wire by 30-odd, Leeds beat Hudds by 30-odd, Cas beat Wigan.
If Wigan win, it's third or lower.

Dwarfs, Gnomes, Halflings/GNOME2.JPG The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you.

I would be happy with a Saints and Huddersfield win next round. Let Leeds and Wigan suffer with doubt for another week. Response to the winning try, Cunningham and McManus was jumping up and down with joy, wonder why Sean Long seem to be sulking for some reason.

Not if Huddersfield win as well.

Why? Us and Huddersfield would be on 40 and Wigan and Leeds on 39.

Sorry, you're quite right. A few too many bottled ales watching the match.

| We could end up playing Huddersfield away qnd let Wigan and Leeds smash each other. If we win vs wire and leeds lose then Leeds will finish 4th. Unreal.

Agreed. Nobody will want to face us in the playoffs.
That was an outstanding defensive effort from Saints. That Makinson tackle was exceptional. And Josh Jones tackle whilst still on the floor to stop them breaking away was excellent.
We really need to get Walmsley back on the pitch though as I felt that although our defence was bang on, we were struggling against their pack. Is Roby hurt? He looked to be struggling with his arm a bit.
Proud of the lads.

There is some truth in that, but there's no doubt we'd be considerably better off playing our semi at home. It's not the be-all-and-end-all, but it is important.

| Wish someone had taught Jon Wilkin to kick this well ten years ago.
MASSIVE boost having Vea back.

| Great performance, always good to see Vea back, he's a massive handful for defences, and just runs all day. Mose played well too, hopefully he can keep that level for the rest of the season. Think Walshy is starting to look the business again.
