| I actually agree. U15 when they make Saints scholarship is ok but 13 is seriously too young.
Can the mods delete topic?

| In my opinion it is difficult to spot a future star at the age of 13 in rugby because the physical size/ability plays such a big role. Plus, 'hormones' kick in too and some kids get fed up with it as teens and just give up playing. I've seen that happen at my sons club.
As a side note, I think the U14's or it might be next years U15's full scholarships list must be out soon. I think someone mentioned a number of Blackbrook lads were already picked.

| Seriously? 13 years of age and you are creaming yourself? Pure stupidity.
I have seen players who have been serious stars at academy and reserve level but then been average or worse in super league.
Goulding was one hell of a player when he was younger, I thought he would be Englands future centre, now look at him. Can't even get a game on the wing.
We were ranted at on our board in 2008 when we were having a bad season and people were talking about how good Tomkins was, he was only young then... but he was older than 13.

| Personally I think it is not right that young kids names are being mentioned on forums like this.
For a kid to make it at any sport they pretty much have to stay dedicated and keen throughout their teenage years, and if kids read this sort of nonsense they will think they have made it already. It is important that their feet are kept firmly on the ground and threads like this are not going to help !

There's a surprise. The Bold Miners Under 15s side that was just as successful at Under 14s as Brook were got 2 lads in Scholarship. Laughable.

| Robbie Hand, Joseph Ryan. Dave Hewitt, Whitley! I make that 4 bold lads. To be fair I know Joseph transfers from Rylands.
I've watched blackbrook a bit and they have some excellent players.

Blackbrook does appear to be Saints' feeder club!

What I mean is Under 15s lads who were selected this time last year. Only DH and MW had one the. JR was at Rylands and RH gained his scholarship recently.
I'm not taking anything away from the Under 14s lads at Brook by the way. I've watched them a few times and are impressive. I just find it funny that 12 have gained a Scholarship, probably rightly so, but the previous year the Bold Miners team only had 2. Perhaps it's just me.
