The Grand Final has definitely moved the Challenge Cup down a peg or two. It's a nice to win, nothing more.

I disagree bud. The Challenge Cup is obviously the less important of the 2 and they (RFL) have treated it with a lack of respect IMO however it is a fantastic day out and a great trophy to win.

| Warrington fans are like cute little garden gnomes. Every self-respecting front garden should dress one up in a noddy hat and pass him a fishing rod and string.

| Quote: WireWireWire "Your denial is hilarious! I'm sure if you'd won it this year you'd be holding onto it for dear life in an explanation of why you perceive your year to have been a successful one. Tell Leeds the CC didn't matter last year. Tell them it doesn't matter this year in their hunt for the treble. You pleb.'"
Your inferiority is much funnier. For the majority of SL our failure was losing a Grand Final. But this is your pinnacle. For one or two years.

| Quote: Albion "I have to admit I'm the first one to put the knife into this team but they really did put everything into that. Incredible defensive effort on our line.
Our pack was superb and completely nullified their opposing number(s). Savelio and Vea were outstanding. I can't wait to see how many yards Vea made he was phenomenal. Best I've seen him play. Just a shame that he was at fault for their first try.
I know people will point to one incident (40/20) but I think our discipline and inability to prevent line breaks killed us. So many times we had Leeds were we wanted them, and they were suffering, and we would give a silly penalty away (e.g. Jones, greenwood) or they would make a line break (moon twice and hall a couple of times too).
It's a shame that Walsh missed the kick and I think that was a boost for Leeds. It's as if we didn't really want Percival to score that try as the game changed after that.
I understand the issue about the VR as I thought Hall's wrist went over the ball and I can't see how he's grounded it, I could only see his fingers underneath the ball, but it was consistent with the other decisions this season (I.e. an arm hair is sufficient). Incredible effort from Percival tho to try and prevent the try against someone twice the size of him.
Overall a disappointing season really. Dumped out of both semis by Leeds and a 4th placed finish. Not exactly what St Helens should be settling for and we need to do better next season.'"
Considering the topsy-turvy year I'm satisfied. With the problems we've had in the halves and full-back things could easily have been much worse.
Couldn't fault anyone tonight. The truth is Sinfield really needed to do what he did because I'm not sure their pack had much puff left. Long time since I've seen Peacock struggling to get to his feet after making repeated tackles.
It was an excellent kick. But the lads will be kicking themselves knowing they had ample opportunity to finish the game. When you play that well and lose it's important the lesson is assimilated quickly.
The VR decision is a sickener - but it's not like we're the only team who's seen some ludicrous calls made over the last month. I can't remember a worse year for terrible decisions made across the board.
We'll be stronger next season just counting the number of kids who'll benefit enormously from a good pre-season. But it's fingers double-crossed that both Lomax and McDonnell emerge the other side of injury nightmare in good condition. That would be a massive boost - even if a touch unrealistic expectation.

| Man, you took the defeat really hard. Taking it out full force on someone in such a passive aggressive manner. You're an admin. Have some decorum. You started it by crying over me telling you the rules, that's literally all I did and you had to come back with a dIck measuring comment that kicked this off. Grow up a bit.

Well, you obviously weren't there then.! The South Stand was buzzing and VERY loud. The Church Mice were watching the Pies plat the Chokers on Thursday.

"Passive aggressive" is a term mostly used by lazy people with weak minds who either don't know what aggression actually is or prefer not to know.

Stop wailing. This is a Saints board. The topic is a Saints topic. Whether you agree or not is your business.
We're not at a church tea party. If you can't handle a little forthright speech then maybe the Internet isn't for you.

| You confuse forthright speech with absolute petty comments. Admit it, you threw your toys out the pram when I reminded you of the rules and the legality of Hall's try. For some reason you couldn't take it and decided to throw an insult at me and my team for absolutely no reason whatsoever other than you needed an outlet for your dismay at your teams failure tonight. End of that.

Well if you didn't come on here looking to stir things up and take the p*ss no-one would look to throw 'insults' at your joke of a club who couldn't even reach the semi finals and haven't even been Champions since 1955.
Note, not even the pie fans have come on here looking to do the same.

We all know you have had a disappointing season and frustrated at the lack of achieving "big club" status so we assume you are on here for entertainment purposes. Don't think we can take a lot of Wire opinion with any value until you get that monkey off your back, 60 years is a lot of monkey, the last time you won the "big one" we had Pounds, Shillings and Pence.

The effort was there tonight but just not good enough. I expected a big defeat but we really did put in the effort and work tonight'"
At least someone with sense, it was a tough match and both sets of players must be so sore this morning, I know a lot of people don't seem to like Kevin Sinfield, but has been such an ambassador for the sport, and last night he really lead from the front.
Pack players yes were really good at times, but did make some mistakes which lead to points being scored, it was risky playing Walmsley and he did not look fit, I am still not convinced with the team being so forward based, and only forwards on the bench.
No problems at all with video decisions! just being petty! Though I am getting tired of how the game comes to a complete halt for what are pointless scrums these days, players stand around make no effort to pack down, an army of water carriers run on and slow the game down more, any players seem to go in the pack, just for rolling the back along the ground?
Next season will see new players, time to bring the team together once more, not sure if Long is being used to his full potential?
