Yes and that's my point. It took some time but we got there in the end.

Quote: bewareshadows "We've had 3 games can't play everyone, every week. That's not the same as out of favour. I can see why they chose to play Wilkin, given he held the ship together at times, but I think that has now run it's course with Lance, Burns, Walsh and Hewitt all available.'"

I am told by a sponsor that when they asked that was the reply from the management i.e. "out of favour" and he will not get a new deal.

Personally I'd prefer to see him in the halves over Wilkin but this is what I was told.

To me that's just nuts.

How can someone be out of favour so early in the season?? What if Burns or someone else gets an injury??? Do we want a player to feel out of favour when we may need him later on in the year?

Yes he is not the half we wanted when we bought him, but never seen him shirk the work, and he does have some skills we could use and need, now or later on in the season.

cunningham should put lomax along side of travis burns..and put wellens at fullback and put wilkin selling hot dogs....his kicking game is a joke.and that kicking on the 3rd tackle wants stopping as well..i heard walsh is fit but has a problem in his head of playing again fear of getting injured!....with wakey getting thrashed by widnes webster wont want another display like that..so if saints play like they did against cas i can see us getting the thrashing!

Or rather than moving the whole team, just put Lance in and carry on.

So Walsh is still a few weeks awayLuke Walsh is still a few weeks away according to Head Coach Keiron Cunningham.

"I have said all along I would be foolish to try and push Luke Walsh just to go and play at Wakefield or just to play somewhere else," he said. "It is a long season; he will play and have a big influence on what we do.

"When he is ready he will be ready. I want him to be ready and stay in there, not be ready and go out and then be ready again and go out again.

"It's unlikely in the next week or two as he needs to be 100 per cent."'"

Is anyone else starting to get a little concerned about Walsh? Obviously a serious injury, but three weeks before the season started they announced he was in full training and would be ready for the season opener. Now, 6 or 7 weeks later and he's still weeks off returning. Has he suffered a setback? Is it a confidence thing? Has anyone on here seen him running since he returned to training?

This season is already starting to resemble last year. A good start, but which is likely to come unstuck under the new format unless we can get two fit halfbacks onto the pitch.

Can anyone remember the last time we had two out and out halfbacks playing in the same side at 6 and 7?

I hope this season does resemble last. You can't do much more than win it no matter who's out there

Yes, He runs out to the training fields on Hard lane with the team in training. He then does some work with the team but then separates off with the physios/medical people/whatever they're called, and runs around the pitches. He doesn't do full contact training with the team. So he's sort of doing training with the team but not fully.

He's not limping or anything now but that doesn't really tell you much from where I saw it.

I'd say only a proper medical person who's examined him can really answer the question.

Personally I was shocked when they said he was coming back so early.

Aye. I think KC probably got a bit ahead of himself saying that he might be back for the WCC. We should perhaps adjust our expectations back to what they were when we first got the prognosis on the injury - that he'll be back around Easter.

Easter was the time originally expected. The fact he had the two ops done separate as that's the only way it could be done is like having two injuries as they couldn't be done together.

I said at the time he had done both the ankle and lower leg before some big gob shot me down for saying it and she was adamant it wasn't both.

In all honesty, with a injury as serious as this and the length of time he's been out, I doubt we will see the real Luke walsh until few month after his return or if we see it all in a saints Jersey.

Pinched off Redvee, really hope this isnt true - Being stuck with Wilkin @ 7 all season is a horrible thought

-------------------------

Just noticed this entry on Saints Face Book feed, which I saw when clicking onto MOM Twitter feed on Saints site.

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... 5360305475

The entry said the following.

Barbara Cutler:
Officially luke Walsh unfortunately has had to have his leg re set as the plates did not take .surgeons will look at it again in around six weeks time but the likelihood is luke wont feature this season .

Not on face book so can't get onto Barbara Cutler's page.. Not want to spread rumours, but a strange entry which was placed only half an hour ago. Apologies if it's a spurious entry to cause mischief.

As with everything, it's all just speculation. Might be true, might not. Unless it's on the Saints site though, I won't believe it.
