Incorrect. I know a fair few Warrington players who all say he's the toughest player to play against in the league and hits very, very hard.

Missing my point mate. I'm talking about his ability with the ball. He's dead with the ball.

| Quote: Judder Man "I think the best way to explain it, by taking out a similar Saints scenario of Bowen, Smith and O'Loughlin and getting MM to lead the team around, quite a lot of hookers in Superleague can do this but MM is way out of his skill set. Roby and others have game stats way beyond what MM can possibly achieve.
MM has a very low tackle count for a hooker and his try assist is very poor and doesn't have a decent offloading game, yes he does terrorise the opposition with aggression and you have to watch out when he is around, he plays a percentage game around his forwards and is fairly error free.
But for me he isn't international class he is very restrictive once he goes outside the Wigan Structure. For me he is excellent for Wigan but could he fit into any other team I'm not sure.'"
Didn't he do just that very successfully this season when Bowen, Green and O'Loughlin were all out for protracted periods? Also he's a 'no brainer' pick at international level (injury notwithstanding) so obviously your last statement also doesn't really hold water. Still, let's not have facts standing in the way of your preconceived opinions, hey?
P.S. St Pete; surprised at you mate. Biggest load of guff I've ever seen you post. Not like you at all...

Terrorised?? Haha. He's never done anything rugby-wise to hurt us.

I just don't rate mm with the ball one little bit. I think he's important to how Wigan play with his aggression and sometimes stepping over the line. He does as Wane asks him to. I hope he doesn't play Saturday as he makes Wigan defend better and adds steel but he's dead with the ball. Offers nothing at all with ball in hand.
I wouldn't have him anywhere near the England team unless England have massive massive injury problems. Of the top of my head I feel Roby, Clark, Lunt and Higham offer more than MM.
I try to post as I see it mate and that's my honest opinion on MM.

| If MM does play our tactics should be what Wigans and MM would be for one of our star players with the same injury and that is to constantly gauge the eye. Blind him if needs be. You should do anything to win.

You simply don't understand the game you're watching then.
There's more ways to terrorise a team then just scooting at them.

Haha. I understand the game perfectly after playing and watching it for over 20 years.
The odd aggressive tackle hasn't made the difference between winning and losing against us. He's made very few breaks, offloads, tackle busts, try assists or tries.
As I said, the odd big hit is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

I know you do Pete and you're always a knowledgeable and reasoned poster, which is why I was surprised at your post which came across as anything but! If that's your genuine opinion then fine but I would have to say I've never seen you further off the ball with an opinion. MM is our most influential player after SOL and all opinion outside of one-eyed fans (which I'll happily consign to the garbage where it belongs) suggests he is a highly regarded player. Having said all that you are, of course, entitled to your opinion...even if it's a wrong one!
Just as an aside; if you genuinely think Higham offers more than McIlorum then you're seriously off the ball on this one! He's not even first choice for a Wire side that has felt the need to go out and buy, rather than trust to Higham and a youngster. Nowhere near the England squad and at best an impact hooker who can scoot at a tiring defense. No disrespect to MH who I like as a man and player but would Saints be happy to run with him as first choice hooker? I think we both know the answer to that....

You said with the ball OR his tough defence. I can see to some extent what you say about his ability with the ball but he sets the tone with intensity and monstrous defence for Wigan. The drop in intensity when he goes off the field is very noticeable.

| Of course McIlorum will play, then everyone will think Saints were amazed to see him radlinski-style.
Thankfully for McIlorum he's not up against a team or coach that revel in reckless and underhand play or he might have to worry about being blinded. I suppose the best thing about playing for Wigan is you don't have to put up with the same nonsense your own coach demands.

Of course Wigan get it back! I have seen many teams try to mix it with Wigan, but it only spurs them on! I would go as far to say some teams are scared to mix it with them due to fear of angering the beast.
