Stuart Cummins is a prat. Bowens was much worse but Soliola has the disadvantage of not playing in Cherry and White and not having a WCC game coming up so he may end up with a ban

Cummins did.
They were both worthy of a ban IMO.

I disagree on that score. It was Westwood's run which drew Percy in, but Westwood actually ended up hitting the line inside Wheeler, so there was no way he should have come in. I don't want to come across like I'm giving him grief; he's a young kid and is bound to have things that need work. I thought he had a good game overall.
On the high tackles, Wilkin and Turner's were both reaction shots, so penalty sufficient. Sia's was a poor one, though, and I'd have no problem with him being banned.

He's not gonna give you a straight answer. We all know and he knows the Bowen one was worse as he jumps up. No ban for him. No ban for Sia. Anything else will be a joke. RFL in lack of consistency shocker. All over again!

| Soliola is a fair, hard player.
Bowen is and always has been a dirty little scrote.
Bowens was ten times worse, you could see the intent.

Even after they let Bowen off? How can that be justified?

He certainly signed for the right team then. He'll fit right in.

It's dodgy, there's no question about it. Bowen blatantly got off the hook because of the WCC. But I don't think it would be good for anyone if we start letting anything go from now on because of it.

| Am I the only one that doesn't think the Sia tackle was that bad? Yeah, it was high, but Monaghan was straight back up, Sia isn't a dirty player, and it was Round 1. Players are bound to be a bit rusty, and there was no intent in the tackle.

| Good aggressive performance by the Saints pack who simply had too much for the Wire pack. Wire will miss Morley and Carvell probably more than they will miss Briers. Looking at the recruitment at Saints I tipped them to win at least one trophy this year. Great signing in Walsh , Masoe and one Leeds should never have let go in Amor. I think Wire will be better with Ratchford in the halves instead of fullback once Russell is fit. Hopefully they put in the same performance next Friday. Well done Saints great to see you back to form.

It wasnt that bad at all , it's just people are listening to the Sky idiots too much and trying to sanitise the game (banning the shoulder charge is an example).
They just need to change the rules to allow a ref to put a player in the sinbin for tackles like that.

| It was a head high shot, there is no arguement about that, what we are now arguing is the relative actions taken.
If Bowen had been banned, then no one would argue that Sia would need one too. The difficulty is they have set the example and drawn the line in the wrong place.
If tackles get much higher they will just miss. How can you get a red for a high tackle given the 2 we have seen so far?? It's not about whether the fella gets back up. Hit a different fella, he will get knocked out. It's got to be about where you hit not how well the other guy gets back up.
Thinking back to the GB game years ago where Morley got sent off after 10 seconds, what's the difference?
I don't think Sia was malicious, he just got it all wrong, but Bowen was high, late and on a man without a ball. If they let that go, it is open season.

Back on topic, I do beleive they wore Leg Greaves Armor. Which would cover from below the knee to ankle. But I'll accept it was more his fighting skills than his man mountainness.
Maybe Ajax would have been more appropriate for the size, element, but it would have been hard to find a play the ball equivalent.
