| Quote: nottinghamtiger "There are two stumbling block to anyone signing Chase.
Firstly, he is on a massive salary at Cas. Most clubs spending to or near the cap will not be able to take him unless he is willing to take a pay cut as it would take them over the salary cap. Even if a club has players coming to the end of their contract they would have to be very high earners and (unless they are half backs) they would not be replaced.
Secondly, he cannot get a new Visa to move employers as he has a criminal conviction that is not considered 'spent' until 2015.'"
If we are close to the cap, we are paying our players to much!
Would he need a new visa ? He's still in this country.

Yes he would, a working Visa has to be renewed if someone changes employer. If it wasn't a problem Chase wouldn't be playing for Cas!

He is on a massive salary at Cas. Yes to be fair he is. However where does that leave Saints and Salford and all the others who have invested heavily to build new and improve existing stadiums to satisfy framing for the future. Will Cas and Wakey be replaced at the next opportunity. Leigh fit the bill and Fax and Fev have at least invested or will the farce continue. I think all fans of the game should be interested in this situation.

It's amazing how these things can become less of an issue if the right person is asking the question

| Chase's visa isn't an issue. He got one for Hull, it just didn't come through in time.

Hull were prepared to wait, player wanted to come but it became apparent the visa would never be approved, hence him nearly going back to the nrl.

As he's a kiwi, wouldn't he need a visa to play in Australia ?

It wasn't anything to do with waiting, the visa came through after the deadline for signing players in a season.

| Basil is in the Manchester Evening News almost saying Rangi has signed for Salford. There is a comment on how Basil believes him to be better than Long. I'm not sure about that to be honest.

it's plain for all to see that Saints are not prepared to invest in top players. Results speak for themselves. We are 8th in the table with no sign of going any higher. By signing two NRL players for next season the board seems to think that their troubles are over. We still desperately need a No.6 and one more quality prop before we can possibly challenge for honours. If we cannot afford top players then it's the duty of the chairman to make the financial position clear to the supporters.

| I am sure Wilkin will rip it up at 6 next season, in the 24 games Wheeler is out injured.

| If true and we've not got someone else tapped up already, the club is a joke.
Signing Chase could have catipulted us back up the table, particularly if we'd signed another decent forward.
