| Went to Wrexham last year, parked on Homebase car park who were charging 3/4 quid and donating it to charity. Excellent PR.

Tesco will have a number plate recognition scheme in place and parking time is restricted. Any breaches result in an automatic financial penalty.
Re the above you normally get 2 hours free parking at Tescopoly so go in buy a pie and a can as a paying customer your ok also with these number plate recognition cameras and a financial penalty following just ignore them not worth the paper they are printed on just check out this site for any info regards this matter.

The traffic would be horrendous, as I will have to drive past/through the congested area around the groundto get to the town centre parking unless I go the long way round through burtonwood or via the east lancs. I will also be able to get a quick getaway (imagine what it will be like trying to get out of tontine st car park or the olf safeway site) from the warrington side of the town and won't pay for parking to boot!'"
And now we get to the nub of the matter?
As there is no parking at the ground, why would the linkway be horrendous?

It would be horrendous only if everybody wanted to go to the M62, or to Widnes or the other way to Warrington.
But outside the multistorey/old Tesco is bound to be gridlocked as that is no doubt where the club will be advising everyone to park. And lots of people will park in there, local and away fans. So there is bound to be some gridlock. Hopefully, though, most local fans will bus/walk it to make life easier generally.

Of course you'll always get some congestion, but don't forget there are two exits from the Chalon Way car park, which should help alleviate some of the traffic, some will funnel onto the linkway, some can go back through Fingerpost.

Oh yes, I agree. Although neither route is made for encouraging the swift movement of traffic! But even if both were, that still wouldn't stop congestion as everybody is leaving at pretty much the same time.
I think there are some people who just ask for the universe to be placed at their feet!

| I am expecting it to be far easier to get away from parking in town than it was at Knowsley road.
The Town centre is designed to accommodate high traffic flow in multiple directions. Duel carriageways surround the town and these roads are all clearways with no parking allowed. This imcreases the speed of traffic and also traffic density. The streets around Knowsley road were merely residential side streets with much roadside parking, much of it was double parked which hindered departure.
The town centre car parks themselves have different exit routes this will also help segregate traffic, in mainly Easterly or Westerly directions.
Barrier systems within car parks also regulate egress from the car parks.
Roundabouts and traffic light systems all help to regulate the flow of traffic within the duel carriageways around the town centre.
The fact the stadium is in a central location means traffic will head out in different directions. At Knowsley road because the stadium was in the far West of St.Helens, most traffic headed Eastward. This should reduce the incidence of choke points.

Sorry! yea that car park is ideal!
Can't understand the listing of some of all the car parks in Town for people to park, yes 1,600 plus places, but Park at Birchley Street you may as well walk from home! LOL
It's going to have to be a wait and see! I always find Wigan impossible with the traffic lights near Asda to turn right to M6.
