| Quote: Rob Wire "Paul Wellens didn't have a good game tonight (which is rare by his standards) but if you rewind the tape to the game against Warrington he saved you at least 18 points that night, he was immense.
Given what he's achieved in the game including saving your bacon on quite a few occasions over the years then he's entitled to the odd night off especially in the latter stages of his career.'"
He's been poor all season. Saints haven't shown any nostalgic tendancies towards any of the other recent retiring greats so I don't see why Wello should be any different. Knocks me sick saying it because I love the man, but he isn't playing well enough to justify his selection.

| Quote: saint billy "Agreed about Wilkin. I thought Lomax was non-exsistant, especially in the first half.'"
I read a comment earlier on about Lomax looking outstanding and how he was the best young player in superleague but i've got to say I thought he was poor for 60mins tonight. I think the lads an amazing talent and I was gutted he didn't get a place in the England side last week but he just didn't take the game by the scruff of the neck tonight and it was too late when he started to have a dig. I thought Gaskell at the side of him tried to hold it together and his kicking game is excellent but you just needed Lomax to show his hand abit earlier.
Granted it's hard to run a game on the back of a beaten pack.

That's just BS. He was in amazing form until his heel injury. He just hasn't been the same since. In fact, he's been atrocious.

Watch the Warrington game again if your brave enough too, Wellens was outstanding that night so he can't have been poor all season. Obviously you know him better than i do as you see him each week, personally i don't think he should have gone for that high ball as it was risky given the conditions, letting Wigan go for it would have been safer as it was on the last and you had plenty of cover around that area.

No, your view is the correct one. He has been awful since coming back from his last injury. Just terrible. But he was on fire before he limped off at Wigan last time we met.

| Wellens is a dependable full back, and sometimes that is what you need. What I don't like about him is the constant screaming at the officials.

Wello doesn't scream; that's Jammer's job. Wello whines.

| One of the things that has defined Wellos career is that he made a glaring error once every Preston guild.
These days however he is starting to make them every game.
Now there may be mitigating circumstances we as fans are not being made aware of. However the fact is that his performances this year have been on the whole mediocre.
Its something that starts to happen to all great players when their bodies start to betray them.
The player himself, coaches and fans need to come to terms with that.

Rubbish! Cunningham, at times the weight he carried was embarrassing! add to that the wrong fable the young players come to believe we are done for without Kieron on the pitch, Roby has been as good out of his shadow at long last and better at times and they even supported a statue which was stupid, it should have always been a statue to the past, present and future!

| It's a shame that it's taken horror mistakes for people to realise that the advancing years have caught up with Wello. We simply cannot afford to have him as our starting full back next year.

But what are they going to do about it? When is his contract up? Hopefully if Leon ever returns we will see either Lomax or Gaskell move to fullback but I just don't see it happening.

| We should have been training an understudy to Wellens FOUR YEARS AGO. And we still haven't got a recognised one now. Not good.
