| Shocking performance
The worst Ive ever seen them play.
Seems Kyle is just going through the motions, although I feel a bit sorry for him with the stick he is getting.
Might be best just to drop him, or let him move on soon as pos.
Really missing players like KC, Scully, Longy etc..
seems theres no one to lift the team anymore.
Perry looks like he could be a great signing.
Other than that I cant see Saints making the playoffs

| Absolute garbage. No game plan on attack ,no leadership on the field ,defence leaking points. When did Graham last break a tackle? If the future is players like Gaskell we are doomed!
Anyway,at lease we wont have to worry about a GF defeat as at this rate we won't make the play offs

| The club should take some of the blame as well as the coach and players.
We should never have had to play our games at Widnes if everything had been planned better.
The whole ea$tmond, Pryce and jammer saga should have been sorted well before the season started.
On the field we look a very poor coached team. I'd love to know what we did in pre-season because from the look of it it wasn't much.

No, they weren't. Both of them were poor. Shenton and Lomax were our best players and Gaskell played his heart out but had a bit of a mare. Still, no player can be two players at once.
Credit to quins though, they were good. Not sophisticated, but they didn't need to be. They were good. They were disciplined, tackled well, played with enthusiasm. All any fan could ever want from a team. And they won, too, which I think is great. Well deserved and it's good to see Quins winning more than they are losing.

I'd agree with you about this, is was always going to be hard for you to play there, Knowsley road, although a dump, was an awsome atmosphere, both for you and us away fans, and I loved it, and it'll be really hard to get any atmosphere at Widnes, this isn't an excuse for poor play or attitude, but it is bound to have an effect.
The whole ea$tmond, Pryce and jammer saga should have been sorted well before the season started.
IMHO you need to let Eastmond go now, pay him up, once Chris Ashton had made his mind up, he had to have played his last game in cherry and white.

No idea what tactics Royce used pre-season, or what the real reason is for your play at the moment, but for me, a life long Wigan fan, my view is we need a strong Saints team, every Wigan fan, and I mean true rugby fans want the Wigan Saints games to be tight, hard and passionate. I think the season will be tough for you, not having a hime ground is a big factor, it took us a long time to get used to the JJB after Central Park, it does make a difference.
That said, nothing would suprise me less than Saints making the GF again this year............. Chin up.

Um, and how could Saints have planned for the credit crunch which nearly resulted in Taylor Wimpey going bust? I suppose it was the club's fault that the banks collapsed?

Not being funny but we've been saying we will have new stadium for the last 20 years, long before the credit crunch of the last few years. Other clubs have done it, even Salford are doing it now!!!!
No I dont blame the St Helens club for the collapse of the banks, that's just silly but no doubt you blame Mick potter for the collapse of the banks.

Of course we have, but again, that has nothing to do with the timing of moving into the new stadium, which is what the post I was replying to was about. You cannot blame Saints for the credit crunch, Taylor Wimpey almost going bust and the resultant shortfall of finance and such like which led to the delay. The plan was for us to be in the new stadium now. External factors outside of Saints' control stopped that from happening. Actually, we are damned lucky to be getting the stadium at all. The NWDA who gave the project a grant of £4 million no longer exist; the Council who provided the project with between £6 and £10 million are now severely cutting their budget and possibly making staff redundant. We got in there by the skin of our teeth.

I do see what your saying but how many teams in world sport can you think off that's had to play a full season away while the new stadium is being built?
Salford are building there's now while playing at the willows. Wigan played at central park before moving, hull played at the boulevard before moving etc.
It's just poor planning. We should have been in a new stadium many years ago. I also believe we'd still be playing in KR for the next 20 years if the RFL hadn't brought it in as critera to gain a super league place.
The non building of a new stadium earlier could set us back years! The has been no focus on squad building while the stadium has been planned and IMO has cost us years of winning another cup.

| It was as bad an overall performance as I can remember from a Saints team in my years watching Saints, especially when you consider some of the personel on the park last night.
The scoreline flattered us as we scored a try on the full time hooter. It was the 3rd time out of 5 that we've been nilled in the 1st half this season. Frightening stat!
The forwards were outplayed and when this is the case, we'll really struggle because it is our supposed strength. Until Flannery offloaded in the 2nd half, I can't recall one offload from any of the forwards.
Apart from 1 or 2 late in the 2nd half (Lomax springs to mind) I can't recall any real clean breaks from us throughout the game and to be honest we didn't look like breaking the line on many ocassions.
Our inabaility to spread the ball with any speed and our lack of planned moves was extremely alarming. Our three quarters may aswell not play as they simply don't get a pass of the ball. It was far too one out for me, with no offloads, no speed at the ruck, no support play, no determination and no guile. It was a shambles offensively, as bad as I've seen us. We also show no real imagination with our kicking game which has been poor once again.
Our defensive structure also looks really poor to me. We play too narrow and despite this teams seem to make big yards against us down the middle. Outwide we are awful defensively. Every time teams spread the ball they look capable of burning us out wide and it often leaves the three quarters defendng against more attacking players.
We're missing Cunningham's direction badly and without Leon Pryce there simply isn't a spark in the side, especially with Eastmond in such poor form. I can't see things improving dramatically any time soon. It's really, really depressing watching this side at the moment. Someone posted on another thread that this is the best squad we've had since 06? No chance! Outside our best 17, we're a very average side and once we lose Pryce, we're screwed.

That was me, and I stick by it. In terms of balance, this is the best squad we've had for a while. We've got a mean front row, a good mix of power, graft and guile in the back row (something we've lacked for years) and we've introduced some pace into the backline. Our young players are, on the whole, good backup.
I didn't see the game yesterday, but when I have seen us we've been absolutely rubbish. I don't think that's down to the personnel in the squad though. Our scrum half has clearly taken his ball home, we look thoroughly disorganised and we don't seem to have any enthusiasm. Something more fundamental than the names on the teamsheet is at issue here.
