| I loved watching ricky Stuart as a player, he was top class and great to watch. I also think he's a good coach, they don't just give the aussie job to anybody.
IMO saints won't touch him, he's to outspoken like millward was and I can't see saints going down that road again.

I agree with what your saying on both points really. He must have something about him if hes the Australia coach and i don't think McManus would like someone that speaks his mind (like Millward) incharge, however, theres one thing, the fans would love to have someone that speaks there mind, like Millward, at the club again. Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying bring back Millward but someone that is outspoken and says it how it is, would be good for the club, IMO, as long as they have something bout them from a coaching point of view also.

| He's definitely on my shortlist. Coaching over here will probably do him a world of good so he must be in the frame for any of the jobs available now. Just imagine, if he's actually any good at coaching, him working with Kyle. The guy must have several tips and tricks he could pass on. Look what Millward and Anderson did with Long and multiply that by some and imagine what a player Kyle can become.

No, but how do you know he doesn't look really cool in sun glasses? That is all we need IMO. A figurehead for the driving, throbbing glory of the Saints.
We don't need some geeky technical coach who'll try to coach the Saints spirit out of us, we need a personality capable of inspiring the players.

Stuart wouldn't be my first choice but i'd be happy if he got the job but i'm pretty sure we won't even consider him.

www.sthelensstar.co.uk/sport/sai ... r_in_July/
Summary for those who can't access in work or whatever:
Mr. McManus expects the new coach to be unveiled in July, and Keiron Purtill has "thrown his hat into the ring" (whatever that means in real terms) for the job, but has not formally applied. There are about 'a dozen' applicants and a shortlist of 3 or 4 will be drawn up, including those who have applied and those who Saints approach directly.

| I have just been listening to Jammer live on Radio Manchester - he is at the evening at the Leigh Sports Village.
He said he wouldn't mind Keiron Purtill and KC as the coaching set up for next season. He said if we disregard K. Purthill then we may lose him altogether as he feels he could go after some of the other vacant coaching positions at other clubs.

Well, Saints want the best man for the job, I assume. If that is Purtill then they will appoint him. It's a risk, though, because he will be even less experienced than Potter. I hope we just go for the best coach, wherever he comes from.

| Purtill is fine for me as long as the players are behind it. Perhaps an experienced old head to guide him would work.
Avram Grant is good at those kind of roles.
