| Quote: SaintsFan "That's totally pathetic.
Nobby has probably done the same thing with Feka. It wouldn't surprise me if the new guy turned Feka into a sphelt tackling machine and thus a much more effective player rather than the overweight ten minute pudding he was last season. But if this happens will you say Wigan fans are arrogant for saying that one coach brought the best out of a player when the previous coach did not?'"
I have given you several examples of this with Saints fans. Remember Higham who suddenly became 1 trick mick when he left. Remember Vinnie Anderson who was world class at Saints then allegedly pap. Remember Lyon who was "the best centre in the world" and as soon as Gidley rolled up he was better because he had a better pedigree.

I think you'll find a lot of Saints fans who thought he was distinctly rubbish for most of his time at Saints.

You see, this proves how pathetic you are being. Loads of Saints fans want Lyon [iand[/i Gidley at the same time. The apprentice and the master in the same team would be superb. Alas. Not to be. But while I personally think Gidley is better looking than Lyon, I know that most Saints fans are happy with either and would have both in an instant.
You really are talking bollox and I would stop now before you make a bigger fool of yourself than you already have.

Higham was always 1 trick mick and if you dig up old posts on here you will see what the saints fans thought of Anderson. One big hit and a saints career of lazyness. Anyway, Saints fans have nothing on the wolfs fans. Kevin Penny, the best english winger since Offiah after he scores against Saints and now you cant wait to see the back of him

Is this the same Micky Higham that was released as he was third choice at hooker? I'm sure nobody though he was World Class when he couldn't even get in the team.
Extremely poor attempt, and if you are being serious then unfortunately Winwick is now a load of houses.

SaintsFan is correct IMO, he was poorly used a lot of the time at Bradford, I think we'd get a similar change in performance with Feka (a touch worryingly I think Maguire may get that same change at Wigan next year).
When you hit 30 your physical attributes are in decline, modern techniques mean that the decline is slowed and players can carry on for longer, but the essential fact is that you can never be the player you once were, especially if you were very good in the first place. Experienced and intelligent players can tailor their game to counteract some of these effects, but you will always be on that downward spiral.

You werent all sayin that when he was flicking out reverse passes and running in 70 yard interceptions while playing in the back row. Conveniently these comments only came up post Saints career.

Yeah, the CC win was all down to Mickey Higham.

Wigan fans call him one trick Mick after DD invented the phrase whilst he was still here, funnily enough so did Warrington fans before he signed for them...
He's been unfairly criticised by many fans. He isn't as bad as some tried to make out when he left here, he certainly looked like one of the few Wigan players that were trying in their near relegation season yet is slated on their board at times, he's looked ok at international level. Yet he'll never be classed as a great player.

Many were though, Div and DD especially IIRC. He's a luxury player that looks good when you are on top, but isn't one to make the hard yards when things are going against you.
Funny how both players you are defending are currently contracted to Warrington though, is it just coincidence...

Not at all. I have used other examples that people conveniently ignore.

| Both players have found their level.
Was funny when Mathers played for wigan, the warrington fans used to say how rubbish he was. Now he plays for them, have you seen the love fest they have with him!!!!

Only idiots said that Gidley was better than Lyon, I don't remember too many of the more sensible posters saying that.
Moore broke onto the scene with a few good displays, as he progressed he didn't maintain that (not surprisingly), struggling somewhat playing against men (again perhaps not surprisingly) and was shipped out on loan to get SL experience. He had a decent enough season at Cas, though even some Cas fans were glad to see the back of him. Last season at Hudds he came on leaps and bounds under the tutelage of Nathan Brown, to the point that he was selected for International honours. The change in position has worked for him, just as it does for many a youth player.
Youngsters like Tyrer and Foster are talked about more often by people who haven't actually seen them play too often. Anyway, many a youth player is deemed to be 'the next...' and never lives up to that, Saints players are no different.
And Pryce was the best 6 in the country in 2006 and most of 2007.
