Sounds strangely familiar to a certain player in the current squad... can't think who though

| Quote: saint billy "I don't think that he is in the same class as the players you have named, but he was definatly a good player in the seasons he was fit.'"
He was up there as one of the best props in the NRL before he came over here, and in 2006 he was by far our best prop.
Britt was a different class to any of them - but Cayless has definately had a more succesful and high profile career than Fairleigh, in particular.
Its a bit hard to compare against Ward being from different era's - would Ward be as good in the full time era, or would he struggle with the fitness requirements?
Graham has the potential to be the best prop in the world - although I suspect he will have to go to the NRL to fulfill all his potential.

Are we talking about the same player here? David Fairleigh, former Australia international and State Of Origin player, who was voted as the best forward in the NRL the year we signed him?
Cayless was a good prop, but he was nowhere near the player Fairleigh was. Fairleigh was one of, if not the best, prop to grace Super League.

I had hardly heard of Big Dave when we signed, I knew of him and knew he had played for the national squad for a game or two...but hadnt realy heard much hooo haaa about him.. Cayless on the other hand came with a shower of glory around him, maybe its becuase he was part of that quality roosters side that ripped up the nrl, won teh league, tore apart saints in the WCC etc etc... cayless was in the top 5 props in the world when he joined us. I defo think Jason came to us with the bigger tag... of course "daisy" turned out to be a gem of all prop forward gems, as did JC when fit.

Agreed. Fairleigh was the best prop that he named, along with Kevin Ward, he was better than Britt and definatly better than Cayless, although both Britt and Cayless were good forward for us, Fairleigh was better.

| Quote: Carlos Alberto "You don't half talk sh*te.'" In 06, there was absolutely no doubt who was the better prop, besides that, Jason was awesome for us until his injury jinx hit. Shawy must be looking for bites.
In all the "Great Props" talk, no one's mentioned Apollo! What a player.

I was told this on Friday. The guy who told me said saints paid cayless £30,000 a few months ago as a buy out.
The same guy told me potter will quit at the end of the year and saints already lined next coach up.

Why would they pay 30k to buy out his contract when in all essence it finishes in a few weeks anyway.

makes no sense at all that. So the rest of the inside info i would also take with a pinch of salt.
Shame for a very good player to go out in such a way but i am sure he will be back.

Could be true. His contract will contain all kinds of clauses for injuries etc. I reckon there is a possibility the club would pay him off early (It could have happened a month ago for all we know).
Another thing with Potter is that he never wanted to come in the first place. He clearly only did it for the money and he could well have decided he wants out.
Not saying either are true, but given how this season has gone it's hardly stretching things is it.

| Good bye; good ridance.
Too many injuries, too many useless offloads.
Hope he has a nice retirement on our cash in NZ.

In that case, he would still have to be on £30k a month for them to save money. I don't think so some how.... My advice to St. Pete, after hearing so many rumours over 30 years from people in the know is, don't believe everything you hear.

I met the same guy. he was very convincing - he told me he had a job a the greenwich observatory.
He told me that at the end of the ocean there was a waterfall and that the moon was made of cheese.
I'vr just hired a moonboat t collect some of this stuff so I can sell it to gullable peolple at our next home game.
Sorry Pete not having a go but how many unattributable wild comments have you got other than a "man in the pub" or "someone told me etc".
I realise you may have some grteat sources but please try to define them a bit more.
