Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. (Winston Churchill):d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_40218.jpg

I learned tonight that penalty tries are no longer awarded. I don't know when that rule was changed. However, it was a great cheating play by Hudds, one of a few actually (including the fake injury in front of the posts, which should have been a sin binning, except the ref is spineless). Steal the ball over the tryline, two men on one, and because there is no penalty try anymore the opposition have avoided the try but the attacking side who would have scored it had it not been for the cheating play, has to go through the whole set again.

Lost my respect a bit tonight did Hudds, with that kind of play. It makes me very glad the knock on that wasn't, was awarded. icon_biggrin.gif

What fake injury? Potter was annoyed with that too but I obviously missed it.

One of their players pretended to be injured in front of the sticks when they were supposed to be kicking their goal line dropout and the ref didn't stop the clock straight away. Injury clearly pretend because once ref had stopped clock he jogged away no probs. I stand towards the away end so watched what went on and joined in with booing the Hudds players who were clearly playing for time.

They do like their negative games, do Hudds.

I have always thought that over the line the 1 on 1 ball steal shouldn't exist, every man to the pumps to stop the ball being grounded. If the ball had been retained then there would have been no problem, becuase of the way the ball was carried the steal was always going to happen if players tried to stop the grounding.

Maybe the player going for the try should protect the ball better.

Phil Bentham scoured the video tape and despite conclusive evidence that Smith was a half yard offside, he allowed the try to stand. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Saints are a big-game team with bags of big-game experience. They have won five Challenge Cups from six final appearances in the Super League era and have won five Grand Finals in that time too. Add two World Club Championships to that and you have the roll-call of the best rugby league team this country has produced in the modern-era - and it's a phenomenal record. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ancient & Royal wrote.... "You are proud to be associated with that dis-organised band of mercenaries? I am ashamed to be a Wigan fan hell yes, what have we got to be un-ashamed about? We are a joke, a laughing stock, we are NOTHING, why cant people understand!":11659.jpg

Quote: GIANT DAZ "i didnt know wether to laugh at them booing every 3.7 seconds or cringe in embarrasment because quite frankly thats what the saints fans were tonight !'"

I don't agree with the booing at all as it simply isn't helpful and is disresectful after the glory and the entertainment that the team have provided for years and years.

However what was disgraceful again, from a club on the crest of a wave was your woeful travelling attendance. I bet there was 100 of you if that. Shameful, if you can't get your backsides over the pennines to support your team a week before the cup final then it's time to pack in.

Yes I am aware it was a much weakened team but all the more reason to turn up and support them. Especially as 'your kids' nearly did the business and yet again we showed we are badly out of sorts and vulnerable.

Well played last night, top performance from your guys, but a woeful turnout as always.

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled. For 27 - 0 you get a trophy For 75 - 0 you get sod all. Wigan had eight in a row Saints have five in a row:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_3076.jpg

And there was a massive turn out from the Saints fans was there?

and there lies your answer - i would imagine that a week before the cup final that would be people's financial priority...i'm out of work so it is definitely mine.
to be fair though 8,000 for a team with the success Saints have had is quite frankly an embarrasment too, imagine how the players must feel when year after year they bring trophies back and only 8,000 can be bothered to turn up and watch them.

The same Pennines that we travel over regularly to the Galpharm and fill one whole stand behind the sticks. You think St Helens is anymore affluent than Hudds???? Why?

I'm not slagging your home support on this occasion! I don't think half the population of Huddersfield know there way to the M62.

I didn't expect Hudds to bring many more than they did to be fair. I think the "week before Wembley" point is a very valid one really if people have to chose between a trip to a league game and a trip to watch there team in the cup final its hardly likely to be a tough call for most!

but compare the fortunes of the 2 clubs over the last 30/40 years - there is no comparison.
We also have to compete with a football team with 12,000 fans for people from our town to watch us.
i am as dissapointed as anyone that our away crowds aren't better, i would love to see more giants fans at away games but till we win things it wont happen !!

To be fair to the hudds fans last night, they have a final to pay for and hudds were very honest in saying around 10 first teamers would be out. I can't say i'd have gone to leeds if we were in the same boat.

The only "booing" i'll be doing is at our own fans for booing the team off icon_razz.gif

I'm just doing some quality fishing here and letting off some steam after a woeful performance. I've caught a whopper as well. icon_lol.gif

The fact is that at least he admits that there away support is poor at best. But considering the year they are having it really should be better. It may not last but it's quite likely that Hudds are here to stay as a top 3/4 side if not better. They have quality personnel and youth and speed in abundance.

I'm going to Leeds away and lets be real we are gonna get spanked unless something amazing happens to our form. That's no excuse not to turn up.
