But Lomax and Foster were both Grand Final virgins, both have given their all and been great during the season and both tried their hardest at OT in a team which had fallen apart. Being vexed is totally understandable, but it's the experienced players who deserved it, not the noobs.

(I'm afraid I just can't criticise our inexperienced guys
I agree he wasn't the only one.
I don't agree about our inexperienced players either. If your good enough, your old enough, and i'm afraid some of them weren't good enough, but they were not on there own and we can't judge them purely on this one game, but we're really lacking that winning mentality that we had a few years back, and i don't think the youngsters have that like players such as Long, Sculthorpe, Cunningham had when they first played first team at Saints.

It was their first final, for heaven's sake, and Jamie Foster hasn't even been playing a full season! Jonny Lomax has been intermittent, and he was playing in a position that he hasn't played before.
They are certainly both good enough but they are not yet experienced enough.

Its yet to be seen if they are good enough? They've shown glimpses to suggest they have the potential to be good enough but wether they reach that potential is a different matter.
Lomax was playing Stand Off for most the game, he might not have been named there but thats were he played most the game, and thats why he was defending out wide. He also spent time on the wing (in defence anyway), and he's played there a fair few times this season, so the position he was can not be the excuse for him not playing well. As we've both already said, he wasn't on his own but i did think at the game he was our worst player.
FWIW, i thought Foster did OK, one of of our better players. Did nothing wrong anyway.

| Is Crusaders9 on drugs. Foster was one of the best perfromers by Saints and looks set for a bright future.

He didn't look as if he was playing there in the first half. I was on his side of the pitch. Didn't look like SO play to me. The second half was another matter. Gameplan abandoned so far as I could make out, though God knows it was a messy line up and a messy match for us.

This is correct, I kept asking who was playing stand off in that first 30 mins. When defending he was out on the fringes with Meli, when attacking he didn't appear to be communicating with Matty. It was only in the 2nd half after some adjustment that Johnny appeared to be playing a more central role.
Oh and that last 10 mins Jammer was the best No 6 on the pitch, with the no of passes he through across the line!!!

| I think the critisism of foster is ridiculous. In my opinion every time ive seen him play he has not looked out of his depth, in fact quite the opposite. If you moaning saints fans dont want him then we will gladly take him take off your hands at the wire.He is also top class goal kicker. (doesnt he look like him outta Emmerdale)!!!!!!

| Alex Murphy was old enough at what age when he made his debut, it is if you are Good Enough that is more important - Foster has talent it will be interesting how he develops.

It really irritates me when Alex Murphy is pulled out and used to bash young players around the head. Alex Murphy was a gifted scrum half. Players as naturally brilliant as he was come along once a generation. And they are distinctly rare, as are all those who are a genius in their field.
Foster was playing as a centre until he was introduced into the first team. He was dragged off at Salford. What a turnaround the lad has had and he is definitely our best improved player of the season. He has talent and enthusiasm and real skill now.

'" There's also a massive difference in phsyicality which young players have to cope with now. Bobby goulding was playing for Wigan when he was 17, but that was in the days of semi pro training and majorly less advanced sport science.

Good job for us, too. If it wasn't for him, we'd have lost to the Pies three times during 2010!
