| Briers? No thanks.
What Lomax needs is coaching. He's still new to the role and he needs to be guided in the role. Although he plays with more confidence with Hohaia next to him, I have to confess now that I am coming to the conclusion that Hohaia isn't going to make it in the halves. He has been disappointing. It doesn't help, of course, that we have a feeble bunch of forwards. But even if we had Wigan's forwards - who are physically bigger than ours and who certainly come with more attitude than ours - Hohaia still wouldn't be making the grade as a halfback, regardless of whether he feels that's his best position or not.
I'd just have Gaskell back. He's been out for a while now and with the right support from the coaching staff he should be brought back into the side to partner Lomax, taking on the organising role as he was doing.

I've seen him working with the U9/10s at Thatto...he'd be a top coach.

| Bring Long back to coach under Brown. Give him Lomax to work on.

Now THAT is a good idea. Lomax needs coaching (same for Gaskell or any other halves who may have potential). He needs to learn his role. Longy as a halfback coach would be fantastic.

| I obviously haven't seen as much of saints as you all have, but the way I see it is:
Wellens would run all day for Saints, however you need more pace from a FB. Put him at 13 maybe.
Hohaia looks more like a 9 than anything to me. Should maybe be spelled with Roby there.
Bringing in a player like we did with Deacon would be beneficial for Lomax and Gaskell and prob for outside backs too, Wheeler etc.
Do you have any big lads in the academy who could be brought in to freshen up the pack?

3076_1671446335.jpg SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS
For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.
For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.
Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_3076.jpg |

| You could have had Cooper Cronk & Jonathan Thurston playing today and it would have made little difference.
Wigans pack was again dominant, the four Saints props in particular barely made any ground and were put on their backside far too easily. Soliola lost his rag in the first scrum and Wilkin was non existent.

| Quote: Saint Simon "how hard can it be to pass to the right? I dont know why we even have a right side attack, they never get the ball!'"
Us in the East Stand were shouting for the ball to be passed to the right. Our fastest edge never gets the ball. And then, to compound problems, our kicks all went to the left as well, even when there was a space the size of Australia on the right!
We just don't have a single thinker on the pitch. And I include Robes in that because more often than not the move to the left begins with him, and everyone else follows like sheeple.
I didn't expect us to win today because I saw nothing in our performance against Wakefield to suggest we could step up. However, I had hoped to see more attitude in our forwards in particular. But Soliola aside I saw none. So far as everyone else was concerned there wasn't much attitude either, except from Makinson who, as ever, shows no fear or trepidation but steps up in the big games. He should be on the wing as a matter of course, instead of Meli, who, as ever, did precious little in the big game.
