I posted at the time about the 2nd punch potentially causing a brain injury, but others rubbished it and said it wasn't as hard a punch and he sort of pulled out of it.

My point at the time is that in a standing position, his head could recoil a bit and his body could absorb the energy of the punch. Watch clips of a boxer taking a thunderous punch and you'll see a ripple effect through his body, which acts almost like a shock absorber.
The second punch however, his head had nowhere to go, his body could not act like a shock absorber and instead, his head took the impact alone. Concussion isn't just a headache you get for a few days...if it's not treated properly, it's a potential, permanent brain injury that is incredibly still misunderstood by the majority.

Good luck to Lance, unlike most, I don't think he's been a flop of a signing for Saints, just a top quality 'World Cup winning' square peg for the round hole we had.

Given Lance's decent and honourable nature I think he would prefer not to pursue this matter. But a lot depends on his current medical condition and future prospects. The latter appear bleak - certainly from a player's perspective. Although he may have business interests of his own.

From what you say, I have the distinct feeling the full ins and outs of Hohaia's retirement have not seen the light of day yet. The official Saints announcement, especially this "St Helens will make no further comment on this matter." seems a little cool. If it is totally about a concussion injury i do not understand why that would be. As others have said, he has to look to his long term health above everything else and I wish him well in what ever it is he decides to do next.
