Understand McManus is not pushing him too quickly, part time at first and still dual reg with Batley. Then he wants the lad to live over this side of the pennines sometime in the season. Don,t know which part of the season he is expected to show, others might be able to confirm.

| So we've now got 5 senior props + Walmsley.
I'd say this means the end of the road for Magennis who, imo, has struggled to physically compete against SL packs. Back up will come for the 3 promising junior props Walker,Hand and Forster, from which I'd expect one of to go on Dual Reg next year.

Possibly, although we have to remember that next year is the last year for TP and Perry, so this maybe thinking ahead more. I still think Magennis will need to improve, but it's not nessasarily the end. Effectively he's got a year to get it right, I think Forster has 2 years to make an impact. If neither can match it then we maybe looking to sign another prop next year.

| Forster will come through before Magennis now. This year was Magennis' chance for me as Forster will no doubt become a better prop as he develops in my eyes.

I've only seen him once I think at the home game against Wakey. He may have had other bit roles, but that was the one where I noticed him. A big lad and goes in hard. In a way this year although it may have been magennis chance to shine, his lack of air time has been hampered the same way Gaskell, Foster, Ashe etc have. We have gone with tried and tested since Royce, that's not a critism, it is what we needed to stop the rot. But under the circumstances where performance does not count, just experience. What else can they do??
I think Magennis has 1 year left on contract doesn't he?

He looked like he had the making of at least ebing a decent yard winner and seemed much more capable of driving against a Super league pack compared to Magennis who, whilst i don't question his commitment, is consistantly stopped short and put on his back.

| Magennis is not good enough at prop, I'd have let him go before Dixon myself.
Forster needs to make an impact within 2 years? He's only 20, progressing to a regular bench player will bench player within that time will be enough for me.
I'd also agree with the comment about stopping the rot, but that was stopped after a month. The lack of progression since then has hampered the club and the progression of youngsters within the squad for me. A situation that I hope will be rectified next year.

When Hudds were still firing I watched them dismantle Cas with a wild away of attacking options - i was very impressed, even though the opposition wasn'tthe best, the number of ways they took it to them really ripped the defence up.
Around the same time (or so i recall) we rolled over Wakey at home. Despite completely dominating them in the forwards, we still played completely narrow to the ruck, with all our breaks coming from short passes and offloads in the middle. We still scored a hat full, but in the most unimaginative manner. Unfortunatley, when we came up against better teams (Wigan), we weren't afforded the same freedom up the middle and subsequently had nothing to throw at them, looking woeful if we tried anything expansive.

By an impact I mean to get into the first team. Not to be a dream team player.
I think if you are regularly getting on the bench then you have made an impact, to get a new contract.
