What a terrible, terrible mistake letting him go was... Surely if we'd offered him Hohaia's money, whatever space is left over on the salary cap and a 3 year deal it would have been enough ... In the current climate there is simply just no way to replace a player like Pryce anymore and almost any price (arf) is worth keeping them when you've got one, even with if there are a few injury concerns.

In hindsight you are spot on. Sadly Eddie summed it up well last night (for a change) he played 8 times for us in 18 months. Offering a big contract to someone with that record was just too risky and I doubt he would have taken a 1 year deal.
If you want a chuckle btw check this out

No bias there of course, the Hillbilly's obviously didnt notice Thaler hammering us with the penalties

I'd still have happily taken the risk even if he was only 50/50 to ever play again. If your only other alternatives to drive your team 'round the pitch for the next 3 or 4 years are an old antipodean FB/hooker who can't play half to save his life, waiting and hoping that Gaskell will develop and make the grade, or trying to re-sign Matty Bleedin' Smith, then give me a wild and expensive punt on the proven borderline word-class performer who's had a few major injuries lately every time...

| So you'd not play Lomax to have kept Pryce?
Pryce is looking better because he's not organising the team, his kicking game is still as average as it ever was.

Quite.
He still picks and chooses when he plays. He was all fired up on Friday because he was playing against his former team. But I've watched other Dragons games as he has hardly featured.
I don't regret letting Pryce go. In fact, for the last 18 months of his time here it was as if he was gone anyway.

No, I'd simply have kept Pryce and left Hohaia in the NRL. Lomax/Pryce wouldn't have made for the best partnership ever, but they'dve been a sight more effective than Lomax/Hohaia have been. It's not as though our kicking game would be any worse than it is now, is it?

I'd have been greedy
1.Hohaia
6.Gaskell
7.Lomax
9.Roby
13.Pryce
I'm still a bit more of a traditionalist I like a ball playing 13 , to make it fit I would have been happy to offload Wello and Wilkin (i'm sure there would have been plenty takers).
Add to the above Makinson,Shenton,Jones and Meli and that would be a potent back line

But neither would it be any better.

sorry mate that's incorrect - i've watched all the Cats home games when he's played and I can't recall a bad game - some games he has been superb and really fired up - the kicking game has been so-so but his all round contribution has been immense in the games i've watched live - fridays performance wasn't that unusual for him at the GB this season
saying that, I think it was time for him to move on personally to another challenge and all that - a masterstroke by Robinson in the same way he has kept Sir Steve going for an extra two seasons

I think it was best for both parties that he moved on to be honest, he'd become stale at saints and needed a new challenge.
Saints basically paid him to sit on his bum for the last two years of his contract at saints.
I know Leon pretty well, he was 80% going anyway as the deal Catalan offered him was massive and it was 3 years!

yeah, I think that sums it up pretty well - Leon really enjoys life in Perpignan it seems and playing well is a great filip to his team mates - there's a great atmosphere about the place even when the team loses the spirit is there and a lot of that has to go down to Robinson
anyway, St Pete - did you sort out accommodation etc in the end ? how was the trip ?

Apparently there were nearly 1000 Saints fans there, which is a pretty good turnout IMO.
Wish I could have been one of them.

My advice from spending hours and hours looking at options on how to get there etc, is to book it yourself without using any of the packages on offer as its much cheaper.
We left it to late, then people was dropping out and it is a little bit of messing about but if you get it sorted when the fixtures first come out and you'll prob get it for £350 ish.

yeah, must have been a good 1000 fans so well done to all - you were treated to a good game in cooler conditions thanks to the breeze from the mountains
it's much better having the bigger supported clubs in the better weather just to see more visiting fans - next week it's London coming down and we'll be lucky to see 50 fans !
Last years Saints game was in early march and only a handful of fans came over which is normal for that time of year and it was a bitterly cold evening so maybe the RFL can sort out the fixture list a bit to help the 'bigger' supported clubs ?
thanks to all the Saints fans who showed impeccable manners during the singing of the Catalan anthem, even standing which was the ultimate respect
