I've always thought that saying someone else's opinion is stupid is a good way to gain agreement!

You may have noticed, though, that I say it is the argument which is stupid and not the person. And frankly that argument was utterly stupid.

TBH it's a poor side, lost an amazing set of players over the last 6-7 years that could never be replaced.

Just be content that we had a great run for 12 years, but last year saw that this run is over and the team may pick up the odd trophy here and there over the next 5 years, but wont dominate for a long time.

I'll just watch as a fan, and be happy that the clud is secure!

Wait, that makes no sense. Gaskell has been at Saints for years training in a full-time environment and played the 2011 season, including a lot of 'big' games. The comparison with Walmsley (who was playing student RL a few seasons ago and only played part-time at Batley last season) is a ridiculous one.

You want to know what has happened to Lomax? Blame yourselves. Blame the stubborn saints fans who moan about every little thing a player does wrong. Look what you do to a player, I really hope he leaves us and finds a team where he can shine again where the fans won't constantly complain when he makes a mistake. Just like Smith and soon to be Foster, when will you all learn? Absolute idiots, you have destroyed his confidence and it won't be long before you destroy Gaskells, Makinsons, Jones' etc. I don't agree he should play at scrum half at all but seriously the way some of you go around it is just plain childish and pathetic, hard to believe some of you are fully grown adults and i really doubt you are to be honest. Really think all these youth players are gonna wanna go for Saints if they are offered scholarships from the like of Wigan and Warrington? I know every team has a set of fans like most of the posters on here but at the end of the day teams like Wigan and their fans get behind the team and their players, wish are fans were like them.

If you take the 7 jersey and salary then there comes a level of expectation.
Nobody is bagging him for a couple of off days. This has gone on for a long time.

Think people are unhappy with him to a degree and the coaching staff for
continuing to do the same limited things every week and expecting him to
suddenly turn into Cooper Cronk.

Yes i'm not saying that you shouldn't expect things of your scrum half, of course you should but i find what some people say on here completely and utterly disgusting. He's only a young lad, it's a god job he doesn't come on here. He's gonna end up scarred from all this.

Why are we culpable for a player's performance levels dropping? Is it because we said something on an internet forum which you say he probably doesn't visit?

You'd be surprised who reads these boards from time to time.

They all do I'd bet. Professional sportsmen on the whole love to read about their work, just as most people would.

It's why I personally would never criticise a player on here, only constructively analyse their performance levels. We don't want to be destroying their confidence.

Why are you giving this forum some influence and casting the blame on there performance. There are divided opinions here where the majority are saying Lomax is not a Scrum Half amd Makinson is not a Full Back. Yet the very people in majority come game time are behind Lomax and Makinson 100%, to imply that supporters on here effect their performances is just stupid, when in reality nearly all fans support the shirt and whoever wears it at the time.

I do find us 'Saints Fans' to be the most pesimistic of any fans. On here or on Redvee or pretty much any forum. Even in the years of finals but no GF win we were pretty negative.

I'm not saying we should change, but it does takes a certain type of player to be able to play at Saints and it's not so much about skill it's about having a kind of arrogance that it does not matter what the fans think.

It's not a recent occurance, in the past we the fans have knocked the confidence of players like Sullivan. We also do it to opposition players too. But you need to be thick skinned to play for saints.
