| Quote: McClennan "I wish people would stop saying Sammut. It's amazing what a funky haircut and appearing on a couple of highlight reels can do for a man. I'd be more interested in us securing a full back rather than a half back for next year.'"
Dennis Moran the 2nd for me. He'd really struggle at a big club imo and if ever a side like Saints or one of the other top sides were going to target a Crusaders half they'd be better off with Michael Witt(although i'm still not sure he's good enough but is a more rounded player then Sammut).
Sammut is a big fish in a small pond that can do whatever he wants on the field and play without structure and just wouldn't settle into a role that Saints, Wigan, Wire etc would want him to play.

| Quote: McClennan "Pryce is too inconsistent at organising for him to be taking on that responsibility. He's okay for the occasional match but if he did it reguarly (which he doesn't) we would never have been so hopeful of Kyle. We cannot have two runners at half unless somebody else is able to take on field kicking.'"
Very True. I would like one of the young kids to be given a run at Scrum Half or if we needed to recruit I would prefer a organising Scrum Half with a good kicking game. Personally I think we have lacked that since Longy did the role superbly well in 2005/2006.

| Quote: The Chair Maker "Talk of top line aussie half backs coming to SL is fantasy la la land stuff.
Discounting the 3 game European holiday of Andrew Johns, i can only think of Trent Barrett who came over in 2007 who was not of pensionable age.
Hence i think we would need to discount a signing of anyone under 30 years of age.
The main factor why they wont come over anymore is that there isnt the money in Britain compared to Australia.'"
I wouldn't rule out a top quality replacement coming here. Saints are a big attraction and if the alleged offer of £250,000 a year to Eastmond is true (as reported in one of the papers) then we certainly have some money to throw about.

I'd be surprised if we'd managed to offer Kyle that, but there's every possibility that a few players will be leaving at the end of the season, so we should have a big wedge of cap money to redistribute.

I think prince is the ideal man for saints, he's top class player who would go well with Leon.

| Quote: Mr Colquitt on Sky Sports website ""We're disappointed Kyle's going but there's plenty other cards we believe will be in the ranks shortly," he revealed.
"We'll continue our investment in junior development, in which we've a strong tradition. But equally we'll be looking overseas and we've already identified a couple of targets."'"
Anyone know what the first bit even means? It reads to me like they are going to sign several players, but clearly he cannot mean that?
Who could these overseas targets be exactly? Interesting. Carney and Prince are the only ones I heard mentioned as potentially being available. Prince is too old already so would be a massively disappointing signing, even as a stop gap as we've no one at the club who is good enough to step in after him unless there is someone who hasn't played for the first team yet, the likes of Gaskell, Wheeler and Lomax certainly aren't up to it.

A slightly less cryptic take on this from Eamonn:
"It is a pity, because the club has invested so much time and energy in Kyle's development," said the St Helens chairman, Eamonn McManus, pointedly. "But we've lost much bigger players than Kyle in recent years and coped OK, and we'll carry on now. We've started thinking in terms of finding a replacement – looking at the options we have from within, and seeing what's outside, both in the overseas and domestic market. It's for next season so there's no mad rush, but I don't think we're the only Super League club looking around for half-backs."

Why? I believe the decision on whether to sack him is going to be announced by Friday. Talented player but would he even get through the new border control regulations here with a DD charge?

| I don't know if he'd be allowed over here, but he was the Dally M winner last year so I'd take him in a heartbeat. Joel Monaghan has come here with problems but is going well so far at Warrington. Carney would be immense for us, he really would.
