I'm not sure we would stand in his way if he asked to go now, would we? He's barely played for the first team and if he's got no plans to sign a deal for next season, why keep him here? He's had a pretty hard time of it recently it seems and has plenty of contacts over there, so if he wants to go, good luck to him. Saints should just get in there first and make sure he's obligated morally to come back to us if he returns.

If he doesn't go, great, get him on a 5 year deal now so we're at least compensated when he does go.

Always going to happen with the money in NRL and the wraps from Burgess and Graham etc. It was just over 12 months ago couple of mates from Brisbane were saying Broncos had Walmsley on there radar with talk of Sam Thaiday coming the other way but nothing came of it....luckily.

If we do get some part of the season out of an injury free Sav, it will be a bonus for the 2015 season.

From what I have heard he was offered a contract extension by Saints but decided against signing it. It's a very similar situation with Joe Burgess and Ryan Sutton at Wigan, and I guess there'll be a few others also awaiting the Aussie call.

The three of them I believe still have one year left on their contract so things may change, but the money on offer over there will be much higher. If Wigan and Saints chose to get near or match the offers then it puts them in a perilous position when the next really good youngster comes through.

Leeds had a similar problem with Jordan Baldwinson and Mason Tonks and they were allowed to leave to go to NZ Warriors (although both have returned after failing to make an impression in their U20's side)

edit - I hadn't heard of any offer for Savelio, just that he didn't want to sign his extension, so that would tie up with the OP

Just a shame we will not even get to see the lad play more than the few minutes he has if it's true.

It's been stated 1000s of times why he hasn't! His mum even made a statement saying why!

Players health is priority in any situation and saints and especially Brown have handled him excellent with what he's been through.
