| I asked when ordering my tickets for the Widnes game about disabled parking at the stadium. I was told that its all been allocated.
That seems a strange position? Can anyone confirm? Did they sell season long disabled passes or something? Have I missed that?

| Last I heard was that Saints have been in negotiations with Tesco, St Helens Chamber of Commerce and the retail parks about additional matchday parking. This is as well as the parking which the Council said would be available at the two town centre multistoreys. I don't know for certain what the outcome was of the discussions with the retail parks and Tesco but if all parking places are secured for matchdays then that would take the total to 1600 spaces available. However, if Saints are hoping to hold concerts and the like at the stadium then they will need to get things on a more secure footing so as to have enough spaces available for whatever events they hold.
There is only disabled and corporate parking at the stadium for matchdays. No able bodied parking at all.
I'm sure the club said that they will be setting out details of parking and such like in the New Year.
The Chief - I hadn't heard about the allocation of disabled parking bays. Have you contacted Mike Appleton about that? He isn't the person responsible but he's great at clarifying bits of information like that, bless him. I don't think the bloke sleeps.
Saddened! - At the moment the old Tesco parking area is being used for parking. I think it is quite pricey though, something like £10 for the day (don't know what it is by the hour, or if it is in fact broken down by the hour).

| what are they going to do about parking for corporate events, and the like, during the day?
cant see many companies wanting to host an event where you have to park in the town centre and walk to the venue - when there are plenty of venues with onsite parking.

Use the parking spaces at the ground. There are about half a dozen allocated per corporate box. There are at least 12 boxes.

There are 180 official car parking spaces on the stadium site itself. So for conferences Weddings etc there should be no issue.
In addition a temporary overflow carpark has also been built which looks to have a capacity of about 100 vehicles

Is there any other parking in the town centre that is walkable? What's happened to the other Tesco store? Has that been redeveloped?'"
I'd say all Town Centre parking is walkable for the reasonably able bodied. Might add ten minutes to your journey, but walkable all the same.

| The able-bodied will just park in the town centre.
That was the point in building the bridge wasn't it?

Yes.
On foot you go up the stairway to heaven and amble along the concourse!
Driving you go up McManus Drive. But you can't do that on match days unless you're corporate, staff or disabled.

| Saints have confirmed on their website that there is no parking in any of the retail parks or at Tesco or on the streets around Peasley Cross area. It's in the town centre and then walk. But the Chalon Way car park holds over 600 cars alone and Saints provide examples of other car parks in the town as well so even on a Saturday afternoon CC match there shouldn't be a problem with parking.

Not so sure they can stop people parking in the whole of the peasley cross area.
They didn't mind us parking near the ground at widnes when we were only guests, so I would expect at least the same treatment from our own club/town. It is totally impractical for me coming over from warry to drive past the ground and park in town and is something I just won't do; I'd rather park in somewhere like jackson st, sherdley industrial estate, burtonhead road or the like.

But you were the one telling us that Saints were in negotiation with retail parks to allow car parking there, when everyone else was telling you it wasn't going to happen.

That's because Saints themselves said they were in negotiations with the retail parks. I didn't say anything about us being allowed to park there; just that Saints were in negotiations. Obviously the negotiations went nowhere and we're back to square one, which was using the town centre car parks. The focus at planning time was the multistorey beside the old Tesco and that is the first one Saints have referred to on their website.
