| Quote CORNISH="CORNISH"who says the final will be between saints or the pies or the semi saints v wire. i reckon leeds will do catalans and wire might just scrape a win over hull.
will the pies pick leeds who did them in the CC and lets face it are still the champions or will they pick the wire.
hard decisions to be made, and for me i can see a saints v wires final. do i want saints to get to the GF though and possibly lose again. OF COURSE i do. every year all the other teams not at OT would swap places with the 2 teams to be there. one day we will win it again.why not this year!!!
and if not this year then maybe next, but win it again we will.'"

If we get there and I could go then I still would. Even though spending 150 quid and a precious day off work on a 5 hour roundtrip in the pouring rain to sit in that cripplingly uncomfortable monument to pure evil to watch our tedious and one-dimensional team haplessly lose yet another final (and to Wigan too) and then get to sit in a traffic jam for 90 minutes afterwards soaked to the skin is the absolute very last thing in the entire fabric of reality that I would ever want to do. I'd still be going though as, as a Saints fan, I'd have no choice. Luckily this year I am spared from further punishment

Actually, if Leeds do beat Cats (I have the feeling in my water that they won't this year though) then I think Wigan are a little knackered as I'd take either Leeds or Wire to do them at the Piedome. I think they'll still pick Leeds or Cats over Wire every day of the week however.

It seems to me your feelings seem more wishful ones than anything else, you seem to be almost daring Wigan to take on Wire (if they are in the mix)rather than the seemingly easier bouts with Leeds or the Cats thus removing the task of the Saints having to do a quick double on them at Cardboard park. Have more faith in your own side, and why should the Pies be barmy enough to take on the job for you? Hope to see you in the GF (you never know) knackered or not.

| Quote Saddened!="Saddened!"I posted a thread on here last year bemoaning the fact that we were about to reach another Grand Final. Whilst I generally love the occasion, seeing Saints put in an abstract performance and lose to a team with more heart and desire is getting a bit samey. I know walking away from OT last year there were several Saints fans giving it the 'never again' promises. If it happens again and we lose in the Grand Final, I'll bet it would push a few thousand over the edge.
I'll admit, unless it's a final against Catalans or Hull I don't want us to get there.'"
So if it is not Cats or Hull I presume you will not be there!
I'll be there no matter who plays as I'm a supporter of the greatest game on earth, rugby league!

| I'm getting immune from losing in the GF par for the course for Saints, but it would be great if Saints turned up & won the GF for once.

Even after losing the last 5 GF's in a row, I would bet that every team apart from Leeds & Wigan in 2010 would have swapped places with us to have even got there. Getting to the GF is a great achievement and obviously losing is hard to take but I would rather be there and lose than watch 2 other teams battle it out to become champions.
I dont care how many finals we have lost on the bounce, our aim at the start of the season should be to get to OT and I am desperate to be back there again this year.
We are still the most successful team in SL history (a fact that people seem to forget) and that has naturally brought a lot of gloryhunters out of the woodwork that dont want to turn up if they think we are going to lose but any TRUE Saint would want us there regardless of the result to watch the boys contest the biggest night of the season

Nail on head. I'm a Loiner - 6 CC final defeats and counting - but the notion that I'd rather my forego the hope and expectation that goes with a final appearance beggars belief. It's akin to staying in the house all summer in case it rains.
