| Quote karetaker="karetaker"think the point is being missed here, never mind the westwood try,the point is that the technology and smith was a failure.why you ppl are refering to other decisions is beyond me,'"
Because no Wire fan can justifiably be on here having a go about the James Roby non-try when in their match against Hull FC there was the Ben Westwood non-try. All square. We would still be ahead of you in points difference after the two matches if both the non-tries had not been given (and neither of them should have been). Suck it up.

The two incidents are completely different, but Smith made a mess on both of them. He should have referred the Westwood try, and he should have disallowed the Roby one. Can you imagine the fuss if he was VR for the Grand Final and gave a VR decision like last night at a crucial point? It was a really poor decision.

A VR has already done that to an extent in our GF with Leeds.

| The point is (and the problem with a lot of Saints fans)
Ask a Wire fan should Westwood's be given they would say "no"
Ask some Saints fans should Roby's be given and they say "yes" and start making up rules.
He lost control of the ball after the tackle dragged it forawrd and lost it again and then got pressure on it on the line.
The simple facts are:
*Smith made two mistakes in one weekend and so should be sacked
*Westwood's apparently looked okay in normal time. (No need for a Video ref)
*Roby's looked like a massacre and so went to the VR. It looked worse and should no way have been given, it was. There is the problem.
And FFS RIGSBY, can you make a post w/o referring to the hoodoo. Nothing worse than being boring.
Saints you don't want to be pitied do you? It sounds like that is what you are going for. Smith took pity on you and so gave it? I don't believe that.

| Are people still talking about this?
Talk about being OTT. It didn't make that much difference.

I thought it was a try! He loses the ball backwards then gains control before grounding!
The ruling I couldnt get my head round was the picking up and driving back in the tackle thought that had been outlawed!

I believe the referee saw it that the players feet never left the ground so was not picked up, and te player was also not n the floor so was not dragged. Was merely bundled into touch.

| Amazed it was given, I didnt celebrate when he slugn it down live, I didnt start getting excited as the replays were shown, but I did get giddy and all happy and warm when it was given, never had Ian Smith give us a bean in the past. Still dont grasp how he gave it ?
Smith thought it hit the whiteline JUST, so he gave it.
