dont know why any of you are complaining about your attack yh it wasnt amazin but our defense all but the last 6 minutes was top class and you couldnt get across the line because of it. dont bash yourselves just yet i think we just had the game we have been waiting for and you couldnt do anything about it. everyone has a bad game

I agree on Wellens. For the past three years a few of us have been warning about the aging process and it has caught up with him. Yes he's still strong in the tackle but he is beyond average pace now and poses zero threat returning the ball. In the past he would usually beat the first tackler but because he is so slow now he is getting tackled quite easily. In the modern game we need a speedy guy at full back. It's too late for us to do something about it this year but we cannot afford to be in the same position next season.

We would have been humiliated if it hadn't been for Wellens last night. He was sometimes our only goal line defence. Had our team put pressure on their kickers or even run lines or played dummy runners or something, Wello would not have had such a torrid time as he did last night. I'm very glad he was there.

I definitely see where you're coming from on this. Look how much of a difference Sam Tomkins has made to Wigan playing in that position.

We did exactly the same thing with Veivers where we stuck with him for too long at full back. It wasn't until David Lyon (the real one) joined us that we moved forward in that area. Break the bank for Billy Slater next year!

I think the issue with Wello would be what we'd do with him if he wasnt in the team at FB .. he's not as versatile as Vievers was imo and in the age of the Salary cap for me if he isnt good enough to be first choice we should doing what Salford did with Alker and either be moving him onto the staff or letting him go ...

The problem with Wellens is as soon as the kick goes behind him, he's very ineffective. By the time he has retrieved the ball, the chase isn't far away, and the chase need only be 2 defenders because Wello doesn't have the pace to get around them. This means we're starting every set 10-15 metres further back than our opposition.

jamie b grow a pair and get behind your team if been there when wire were getting battered and wigan fans stayed loyal and still turned out when they were struggling get behind the team and stop moaning
