I think they actually were called the Bombers for a season or two. IIRC the fans revolted against it and they got rid of the name. Then called themselves the bluesox. I bet a few people wished they'd kept shtum.

| St Helens Swines owing to close proximity to Piggy Fletchers (and the swines are now trotting out onto the pitch)
St Helens Scorpions the team with a sting in their tail.
Seriously though let's just stick with good old SAINTS!

| Always thought Oldham (Bears) had the best nickname when it came to picking them. It sounded right, was easy to market due to a recognisable bear mascot, bear toys etc. and it seems right that a rl team were named after this type of animal.( I mean who could ever imagine a shark or eel etc. catching a rugby ball on the burst ).

They also had the best mascot in the League with that bear... Buster I think he was called.

| I believe handrags was a name given to Saints by Pilks Recs. who were then the dominant team in St. Helens

I think "The Saints" is fine. We are introduced as the St. Helens Saints at a lot of away grounds.
I think we need a better catch line rather than "It's your team". I think we should be called "Britains Team" or "THE Superleague Club" or even "The Entertainers".
Like how the Dallas cowboys were called "Americas Team" it was a great marketing tool and miffed every other team in the NFL off.
Surely that is what we really need.

Haha, would love that. Love being hated as a Cowboy's fan. Although I could do without all the drama and us actually winning something.
