Quote: Conroy "What will happen if the stadium isn't finished before Feb 2011? Play a few more games at KR?'"

According to the report,no.Either the RFL will allows us to play our opening games of the 2011 season away until the ground is ready or we will be off to Widnes(or wherever)for our "home" games.

we already know the stadium wont be finished by then, we knew in August it would be MAY at the earliest.

We also know the RFL will allow us to play away games up front to a "Certain extent" anything else with have to be played elsewhere, probably Widnes I would expect.

Impossible.

The RFLs ZX Spectrum fixture compiler software couldn't perform the task without an expensive mandatory upgrade.

They moved the earth so Wigan could cut their grass the other year didn't they? I don't see why they couldn't do the same for us.

If not the next available stadium that is suitable is Malaga's or FC Majorca's. Make it happen Mac.

Quote: Saddened! "Mixed feelings for me. I've had some truly great memories there and the atmosphere there when we were good a few years back was often sensational.

The 'stadium' has held the club back an awful lot over the last decade however. In a ground like Hull FC's Saints would have been playing to crowds of 15,000+ every week instead of scraping 7,000 most weeks.

Now however the rugby is dour, the atmosphere is non existent and I truly hate the place.'"

When we left the boulevard tbh i was gutted as the place will hold special memories for me

However moving to the KC has brought us a far bigger average attendance, record season passes, record coporate, record merchandise you have to go with the times and if long term your going to be able to increase your turnover and bring in extra fans which in turn will mean extra revenue then its a small price to pay

No, they moved one game (Wakefield) to the beginning of the season. That left a four week "window" in June to do the pitch maintenance.

Quote: Carlos Alberto "Should be against Warrington really. Be a close, entertaining game then.'"

No pressure on us then this season
1 last chance to lay to rest the Knowsley Road hoodoo

It would have been wonderful if we could have done it in the last ever game but obviously fixture planners have no sense of destiny.

Good riddance to your hellhole. I have had some god damn awful times there in the past 12/13 years or so. May it crumble into oblivion. If you are to continue your hoodoo then at least I will be able to watch in more comfortable surroundings

Seriously although even most Saints fans want to see the back of Knowsley Rd ( GPW stadium or whatever ) it is always sad to see the back of a "traditional " rugby league ground. Lots of great memories there as well as bad ones. You wont get the roof of the new stadium falling onto the pitch and nearly hitting a Warrington player in a good old winters blizzard.

It was indeed.A coupel of minues before Mike Greg made a break, tossed the ball backwards over his shoulder and the wind actually took the ball forward. One of my memories of the Knowsley Rd

Oh, and the 80-0, i cant seem to get that out of my memory either

Indeed, and one of my favourite memories will be us winning the Super League against Warrington in 96, a game that had celebration wrtitten all over it. Although it will be great to have a new stadium, and great praise must go to the chairman and chief exec, KR will always hold special memories for me, particularly goinng there as a little boy with my dad, with a wooden box so I could see over the wall in the family enclosure. Unfortuantely, my dad didn't live to see the new ground, but I know he would have approved as well.

Abit of news posted on the 606, dont know if there is any truth behind it, just thought i would pass it on.

Quote: 606 "Saints have employed the same architect / designer as the one who designed Llanelli's Parc y Scarlet stadium, (not sure about the builder)
It will be a mirror image of the Scarlets stadium only with a larger capacity, 18k instead of 14k.
The 2 stands that run the length of the pitch are all seated and are curved to enhance spectator views. the two stands behind the sticks are standing only.
Even tho the roof is continuous around the ground (covering the corners) the corner positions will not be open initially, these will be open when expansion is necassary, as stated in a previous thread of mine, future proof.
Building work starts in March 2010 and has a build time of 60 weeks, if it goes over this time period then penalties are paid to Saints by the builder and vice versa if it's complete ahead of schedule, builder reckons 52 week completion build.
So with the RFL arranging the fixtures at the beginning of 2010 season to be played all away from home then our 1st 'HOME' game is scheduled around May 2010. Can't wait.

There's probably some truths in that, particularly the part about the design. It was referenced to on the stadium pics thread a while ago. I'm sure he won't mind me quoting him, but Harry Pinner posted ithttps://www.rowecord.com/resources/images/ScarletsStadiumPemberton.jpg" >
