With a capable coach, thats the main thing.

| Quote: Eric_Cartman_is_a_saint "When Saints splashed the cash, we bought players who were guaranteed to be world class. Newlove, Sculthorpe and Long.
Wires treble signings are nothing but a Gamble
Ryan Atkins? Purlease. Id rather have Lawrence from Hudds.
Richie Myler? Yeah there is a reason he was scrum half against France. Im sure it had nothing to do with Tony Smith buttering him up. Anyone who thinks hes in the same class as Eastmond or Tomkins must be clueless, or a wire fan. I suppose the two are mutually exclusive anyway.
Solomona? lol'"
Some very sensible posts on this thread regarding the standing of all 3 players in the game ....so I apologise now for biting at this juvenile nonsense of a post.
I personally couldnt tell you anything about Atkins other than he's a decent size for a centre thats about, it I saw him at the HJ just before Wembley and he was ordinary - But Sam Obst looked a world beater that day So I'll leave it at that !
Myler has looked Exceptional in a terrible Salford Side and yes he comes with Hype and as with Eastmond and Tomkins it appears justified. three very good kids indeed.
but What I cant have is solomona worth a "LOL"
As a WAKEFIELD player he regulalry cut most if not all teams to bits with his offloading and strong running out wide.
he's a gamble but if he gets on the pitch and can offload to king/Atkins we can fill our boots.

| Currently, Myler is a good SL player. But he has a lot to do before he can be considered a great player.
Solomona gives away as much yardage (through penalties, dropped/wayward passes and interceptions) as he makes.
Forget Gleeson, Ryan Atkins isn't even in Scott Naylor's class. His problem is that despite his impressive physical attributes (size, speed, agility), he hasn't the faintest idea on how to combine them to become a Rugby player.

Yep (are you trying to agree with me or are you saying this proves me wrong, i am really not sure which)
Carvell has looked good for Warrington but has been injured for a good part of the seaon. In the end it is ok to take a risk on a player but Warrington do take too many risks on injury prone players.

I would put him up there as one of the thickest ever RL players to turn out in the sport.

| For anyone who’s interested here’s my opinion
Myler, looks the part and a great signing for the future to build a squad around, my problem with 19 year old world class prospects is that more often than not they don’t progress how everyone wishes them to, Myler looks a great player but he’s only had one good season in SL, he’s not gone through a bad patch of form yet neither has he played in any big pressure games. I hope he continues to progress and goes well at Wire for the sake of England/GB.
Atkins, I’m not a wildcat’s season ticket holder and must admit that my view of him is based on Leeds games and sky games but I just don’t see the fuss, Gleeson to Atkins is a backwards step IMO, the only thing Atkins improves on Gleeson is power but I’d have Gleeson’s footwork and hands any day over Atkins. Same again I would not mind Atkins to go well because due to very limited options he will be in for a shout at the England shirt.
Solomona, flick a coin, world class one game, injury prone unfit penalty machine the other, big gamble (maybe not so big on a one year contract).
I hope Myler & Atkins do really well because we needs some good English backs.

Whatever he is on we can afford it and stay inside the cap.

| Quote: Eric_Cartman_is_a_saint "Sean Long was earmarked for greatness when he was like 14. Those that coached him knew with certainty he would go on to great things. Even the aussies raved about him when they saw him play in the schoolboy internationals. Likewise for Sculthorpe. There was no hindsight about it. Long nearly threw it all away with his escapades on that that train to london, which resulted in him going to Widnes. Fortunatley, we gave him the lifeline to get his climb towards greatness back on track.
'"
I suppose the Aussies thought Myler has distinctly average when he scored a hat-trick against them at Academy level?

| IMO £200,000 for Richie Myler is obscene.
He is un-proven and has IMO been poor in the latter half of the season. Ratchford looks a far better prospect than Myler who IMO started to believe the hype that surrounded him.
Atkins is potentially a good signing. I wouldn't of minded him at Wigan.
Solomona - a gamble IMO.
Saints have recruited better than Wire IMO.

To be fair feilden was one of the best forwards in the world at the time, and his signing had a big hand in keeping wigan up which is worth 10x his fee.
Other big signings weren't as risky either, Newlove and sculthorpe at saints were proven world beaters (if they would get on the bloody plane!) and harris to leeds the same, as was gleeson to wire. Myler hasn't done enough to be even considered in that select group
