Are you sure? Every team that has won it seems to think it's a big deal. I'm pretty sure if your failure in that competition hadn't stretched so far over the ensuing years that your opinion would be quite different.

Yep. We are obsessed with the Challenge Cup. Like Moby Dick. I've always said - who needs the Grand Final and the right to be called champions when you can take your butties to Wembley? icon_lol.gif

Your denial is hilarious! I'm sure if you'd won it this year you'd be holding onto it for dear life in an explanation of why you perceive your year to have been a successful one. Tell Leeds the CC didn't matter last year. Tell them it doesn't matter this year in their hunt for the treble. You pleb.

I have to admit I'm the first one to put the knife into this team but they really did put everything into that. Incredible defensive effort on our line.

Our pack was superb and completely nullified their opposing number(s). Savelio and Vea were outstanding. I can't wait to see how many yards Vea made he was phenomenal. Best I've seen him play. Just a shame that he was at fault for their first try.

I know people will point to one incident (40/20) but I think our discipline and inability to prevent line breaks killed us. So many times we had Leeds were we wanted them, and they were suffering, and we would give a silly penalty away (e.g. Jones, greenwood) or they would make a line break (moon twice and hall a couple of times too).

It's a shame that Walsh missed the kick and I think that was a boost for Leeds. It's as if we didn't really want Percival to score that try as the game changed after that.

I understand the issue about the VR as I thought Hall's wrist went over the ball and I can't see how he's grounded it, I could only see his fingers underneath the ball, but it was consistent with the other decisions this season (I.e. an arm hair is sufficient). Incredible effort from Percival tho to try and prevent the try against someone twice the size of him.

Overall a disappointing season really. Dumped out of both semis by Leeds and a 4th placed finish. Not exactly what St Helens should be settling for and we need to do better next season.

You were on the Wigan board this week giving it some about Wigan's lack of success and now you are poking around at Saints record. And you are a Wire fan? I'd change tact lad and try having a go at mixing it up on the Leyth board. Or Oldham

Except I didn't start this. Look back and all I did was scoff at the fact that poster was crying about being stiffed by the video referee, I did not get into a slanging match about dIck measuring until said poster tried to make it about each teams success.

Can't argue with the effort, commitment and desire. We were so close to getting there. I don't give a monkeys what some fans on here say (two of which seem delighted everytime we lose so they can give it "I told you so"icon_wink.gif the Ryan Hall 'try' was a load of b*llocks.

And why is there a 'fan' of a nothing club like Dire on here giving it large? "In the last 6 or 7 years" blah blah blah. If RL had only began in the last '6 or 7' years then Dire may look a big club. Alas, it wasn't...1955 and all that.

So yet another big game defeat to the Rhinos to swallow and the decision to send out Makinson after half time was a poor one.

I thought a major turning point was when TM had the line beckoning in the first half and passed inside to a Leeds player.

I thought then he must be injured as he didn't put his foot down. TM before his injury would have scored. No doubts.

They should have taken him off before there and then as he was obviously pulling up. Poor decision making by the coach.

Overall a great performance; credit to Leeds for not giving up. I hope they thrash the pies.

I find it funny that you are all omitting the fact that I did not start any of this. I just gave my view on the Hall try. It's only when MugDump replied trying to give some smart arris comment because he had no constructive answer to my reply that it then became about Warrington/Saints success over the recent past. It's a fact that under the rules of SL that Hall's try was legitimate. Mugwump couldn't take that and decided to make some passive aggressive comment that kicked this off.

The Grand Final has definitely moved the Challenge Cup down a peg or two. It's a nice to win, nothing more.

I disagree bud. The Challenge Cup is obviously the less important of the 2 and they (RFL) have treated it with a lack of respect IMO however it is a fantastic day out and a great trophy to win.

Warrington fans are like cute little garden gnomes. Every self-respecting front garden should dress one up in a noddy hat and pass him a fishing rod and string.
