39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

Which semis? What were the crowds?

Saints 27 - 22 Leeds, 2001. Attendance: 16,416.
Saints 42 - 16 Leeds, 2002. Attendance: 17,475.
Since then, every Yorkshire team (apart from Huddersfield themselves) that we have been drawn against in the semi-finals has been at the Galpharm Stadium.

| Wigan, huddersfield, Sheffield, hull, bolton and doncaster could all be ruled out within next few weeks as its the weekend the football starts again and their teams could get home matches to start.

| If it's in Yarkshire at all the club should refuse to play. I'm sick of it. Play it at Wigan.

| Quote: saint billy "Our game SHOULD be this side of the penines. When it was at the JJB for a few years on the run, Leeds kicked up a massive fuss and ever since its been at Huddersfield when we've had to play them. Therefore, its time they moved it back over here, surely?'"
When drawn against a Lancashire at the semi final stage Leeds have played outside of Yorkshire on 8 of the last 10 occasions, four of the last six agains t st helens were in Wigan - I think we would still be behind the average if the game was at the Galpharm (which is the closest suitable venue to the midpoint betweent the two teams)

or the RFL could get in first, if the venue is booked then the FA cant have a football game there can they!

Wigan is just as suitable as the Galpharm.
Saints played Leeds in two semi-finals outside of Yorkshire, and Leeds (Powell i think?) Kicked up a fuss the year after when again Saints V Leeds were drawn together again and then every since Saints have traveled to Yorkshire, apart from when they have been drawn with Huddersfield and obviously Catalan isn't going to be in Yorkshire. Without travelling back too many years, in recent years Saints have faced Leeds twice and both have been at the Galpharm, therefore its time to come back to this side of the penines, due to the amount of times, in recent years, that Saints have traveled over to Yorkshire. I'm not saying that Leeds always play in Yorkshire when they reach the semi's, i'm saying that since 2002, Saints have been made to travel to Yorkshire all the time, especially when playing Leeds. Therefore, its time to go back to the DW Stadium.

| If the weather is like this we will win by a clear 20 points. Dry track = Saints victory.

| Looking forward to the game Not bothered where... its grass FFS.
Shame its not the final.......which gives you the odds
Cant see how you think there is 20 points difference at this stage I thought we had dispelled that particular myth at the last GF but then who knows ?? 9 weeks is along time and a lot can happen before then.

| Normal service was resumed in the league pal! Only kidding this game could be as good as that 2003 Semi final that went into extra time. Venues announced tommorow apparently.

| it should be this side of the Pennines, it wont be though.
With Wire/Cats to be played over this side, then presumably they will want to spread it round a bit - also, the RFL will do anythig to pander to Leeds (could it even be at Elland Road???)

Leeds have more fans, if the game is slightly closer to Leeds it is better for the gate reciepts, everyone wins on the financial front
st helens is just a small town in wigan so having the game at home for them is too much of an advantage icon_razz.gif

| Obviously I'd rather it be in Lancashire, but I'll be there wherever. Not been a Semi Final since 2006 as I've always been on my jolly bobs, but it doesn't clash this year. I CANNOT wait for this one, it's a massive game.
Toughest draw we could've got.
