| Quote: St pete "And they still beat our top teams! That makes it worse that two poor NRL teams who ain't played any rugby can fly half way around the world and beat us in a game they don't really care about!'"
I don't know whether you watch the NRL but if you don't then I can safely advise you that just because a team is low down the league at the end of one season in the NRL does not mean that same team cannot go ahead and win the comp during the following season. I believe the Roosters weren't too hot in the season prior to the one in which they came top and won the GF, if memory serves. The NRL is just more of a level playing field financially and resource wise than the SL which is why more of their teams can win their comp than the SL.
And who is to say which teams are our top teams this season anyway? We're only two games in.
What we saw in the last two games were two games played out by evenly matched teams. The difference in both IMO were the kicking games and errors. Although the Broncos seemed to make more errors than St George, Wigan and Warrington both appeared to make more errors than their Australian counterparts. That makes a massive difference in a tight game, especially one played on a potato patch. The other difference was quality of kicking game/final plays and that comes down to the halves. I don't think either Wire or Wigan have spectacular halves although the younger half in each team could develop into a good player over time.

Pour me a whisky.
That's the most sensible thing I have ever seen you post.

| Quote: Dux "Agreed. I wouldn't be surprised if the top Aussie clubs are more interested in coming over next time, as it's been clearly demonstrated that there's a public appetite for it.
There may have been a lukewarm response to the concept from Aussie administrators, but I don't think their players can be accused of not caring after the two fixtures we've seen.'"
They don't even know what the concept is as they don't care. Our clubs ain't even interested in it, a host of clubs over declared themselves out also!
If we going to do it, let's do it proper but I fear we ain't as good as we think and if we went back to the system when our top 8 v NRL top 8 I think wed see some big scores.

Give over.
If it's a straight 10 minutes then o.k. but that is unfair, would you agree?
If it's 10 minutes each way, no problem.
I'll try ask the ref on Tuesday or Wednesday on twitter.'"
Eddie made reference to the 10 minutes being 'the first period of extra time' so I'm pretty sure it would have been 10 minutes each half.

| Eddie has not got a clue what is going on.
Sky is RUBBISH, they cud not wait for the kick to go over before they finished the programme, and went to the e the call football, id rather go and watch wigan play.
Dont go into extra time tonite as if you do win , fat chance, no one will see you pick the cup up, as SKY will be showing football before the final whistle is blown.

| Like I've said all week. It's not the right time for the world series as we are miles and miles behind them.
If we attempted the top 8 v NRL top 8 again it would be totally embarrassing and we'd be lucky to win a few games.

I think we should stick with this format though.Let it grow, its been a good weekend.A chance for the fans to see these big names play in our country and the the crowds have been great. The rugby in the most part enthralling, despite the flat end but sometimes you just have to tip your hat to a great team and say 'too good'.

It's been good for fans but we've had two average NRL teams beat two of our best and the best NRL team absolutely embarrass super leagues best.
The gates may say let it continue but we will continue to lose the series and it will just fade away and die.

| St George and Brisbane were mid table last season. I reckon they'll comfortably make the 8 this time, but Souths and the Roosters are some way ahead of the chasing pack IMO.

I don't think St George or Brisbane will make it easily to be honest

| I don't know whether to bring myself off about how good the bunnies were or chop it off about how poor we were.
Thankfully I've decided to do neither.

St George have quality in all the key positions and plenty of pace to test anyone but they lack the grunt up front to knock over the top teams. Brisbane have the opposite problem, but if their halves can click they'll improve on last year.

| St George drew 12 all with Souths in the Charity Shield game a few weeks ago.
Hey but lets all pretend they are no good with a team with players like Dugan. Widdop and Marshall.

| I'd continue with it.
Like has been pointed out, we lost by a record margin, but that record margin was only 1 point more than the previous record loss, which Saints also held.
That was in the days when the cap was closer and the SL players were better.
It would be a shame to scrap a concept because of one poor result.
Been to plenty of one sided affairs before and never came away thinking scrap the concept.
As for the ozzies only sending the 8th and 11th placed teams, well that's not true. We won't know how good the SL and NRL teams are until the end of the season. It could be the top 3 in the NRL having played 3 teams that did not make the Super 8's! (an exageration I know, but the point being, the teams that finished last year are not the teams that played this weekend).
