And Gaskell gets dropped for the useless Lance Hohaia.... playing with 2 fullbacks and 1 halfback, great move. We look at the opposition and see an excellent 7 and of course a top class miles better than Hohaia 6 !!

I forgot TP was playing , Perry's put himself about abit though. Silly penalties costing us in this game so far. Despite all the ing going on in the sky box over them Catalan haven't been that great

I thought Jones had a bit of a mare today penalty wise, gave away daft penalties one which march Catalan up field for their 2nd try, about a minute from the end of the first half.

Tad harsh , showed a bit of naivety but we got punished by Thaler ...

I'm not saying he played poorly, I also agree that Thaler did what he could to muller us in the first half. But the silly penalties from Jones just stood out for me as it was an obvious penalty and I was screaming at the screen for him not to do it.

Do I detect an apology coming. Nah didn't think so. Gaskell ain't a halfback end of.

There was a Gaskell shaped hole in our game last night: kicking. Gaskell is a much, much better field kicker than anyone we had on the pitch last night.

Hohaia had his best game as a 6 for us last night but he can't kick for toffee and we suffer as a result.

There must be a way of getting Lomax, Gaskell and Hohaia on the pitch at once. We saw how that messed up Salford when we played at their place. We haven't done it since I don't think. But we should, assuming that Hohaia can produce a good game consistently that is (which I have yet to see evidence of).

Hohaia looked a class act last night expecially working with Roby & Lomax - disappointed with Wilkins' kicking - Wellens even resorted to an up 'n under which failed miserably !

Pryce had a great game too - if only we had a player like him............

What a terrible, terrible mistake letting him go was... Surely if we'd offered him Hohaia's money, whatever space is left over on the salary cap and a 3 year deal it would have been enough ... In the current climate there is simply just no way to replace a player like Pryce anymore and almost any price (arf) is worth keeping them when you've got one, even with if there are a few injury concerns.

In hindsight you are spot on. Sadly Eddie summed it up well last night (for a change) he played 8 times for us in 18 months. Offering a big contract to someone with that record was just too risky and I doubt he would have taken a 1 year deal. I'd still have happily taken the risk even if he was only 50/50 to ever play again. If your only other alternatives to drive your team 'round the pitch for the next 3 or 4 years are an old antipodean FB/hooker who can't play half to save his life, waiting and hoping that Gaskell will develop and make the grade, or trying to re-sign Matty Bleedin' Smith, then give me a wild and expensive punt on the proven borderline word-class performer who's had a few major injuries lately every time...
