| Quote: St pete "I fail to see what this old link has to do with this thread.
McManus says what every coach, owner and fans are saying.
He also says he has give his views to the RFL. It doesnt say he's asked for rules to be changed, it doesn't say he's asked for help. He simply says he's put his view on the matter forward.
Obviously Wigan must have cried that little harder as the RFL have changed the rules for Wigan to keep Sam tomkins.'"
You can't see the relevance?
You spout some sanctimonious, inaccurate drivel; attempting to claim that is only Wigan who have ever initiated a discussion to make amendments to the Salary Cap, in what I suppose, was a misguided attempt to claim some moral high ground on behalf of the club you support.
Wigan have done what McManus and others have done in the past (see Hull and James Rule- who precipitated the second tier liability dispensation in the case of injury amendment) - because guess what... that's the procedure by which amendments to the Salary Cap are made; this being just the latest in several.
They are proposed, discussed, agreed and then implemented. As your Chairman explained, a club may feel that 'something is a real problem and it has to be resolved'. They may then choose to speak officially to the governing body, put forward a proposal for consideration by the other Clubs to consider, there's a meeting, a vote, an amendment is made.
Like Wigan have done in the last few weeks, and like others - including Saints, have done in the past.

| Pie Eaters coming on here and getting all defensive. Can't think why that might be.

It's because they believed their own hype and it's just hit them like a ton of bricks that they ain't as good as they thought.
Don't believe the hype!

Let's say your correct(your not tho) and saints did do a Wigan and go crying to the RFL, then obvious they didn't listen as we've lost Graham to the nrl and eastmond to union.
Does this mean that the RFL is in wigans pocket? They certainly agreed with what Wigan had to say/pay dud t they?

Well, any amendment of this nature wouldn't happen overnight, and would never be implemented midway through a salary cap year bearing in mind the way the live cap works.
You seem to think Wigan bobbed round to Red Hall a couple of weeks ago, gave Nigel Wood a sack of biscuits and sat in his office blubbing until he gave in, filled the empty biscuit sack with £100K and personally delivered it to the Tomkins house dressed as Santa Claus.
(By the way, I know that's not precisely what you think happened....but what you do seem to think is almost as silly).
Quote: St pete "Does this mean that the RFL is in wigans pocket? They certainly agreed with what Wigan had to say/pay dud t they?'"
Well obviously, the RFL are in Wigan's pockets, along with enough of the other clubs to get an amendment voted through. (It's not just a bilateral process between Wigan and the RFL you know).
I don't suppose we'll ever know, but I bet Saints voted in favour. Afterall, Eamonn (much as you dislike the idea) had already done some of the groundwork.
I'm sure you'll disagree. I won't be carrying the discussion on though. I've got 4 Nations final tickets to buy and a trip to Wrexham to occupy me.

| Mate, if only you know what I know.
I told people via pm nearly three weeks ago before anyone had even mentioned any of this and I know exactly how it all came about.
The is few on your board that will confirm I knew weeks ago about this and I know what went on and how it came about.

Well, feel free to PM me too. I'm not in the businesse of breaking confidences.
Neither am I in the business of blindly defending Wigan.
All I did was to point out (by providing evidence in the form of a link to the article containing direct quotes) that your original assertion that when faced with losing players to the NRL and Union, Saints meekly accepted it without a murmer, was inaccurate.
It was in no way a comparison with recent events - there isn't enough evidence in the public domain to have that argument effectively - and would be completely irrelevant to the point I was making anyway.

Facts, evidence and most St Helens fans don't really sit together too well. Blissful ignorance and believing Pimblets make good pies is about the norm.

true dat! Pimblets don't make good pies. They make fooking great pies!
Better than that e you get in Wigan. Just cause they had to eat humble pie doesn't mean they make good pies.
Be like saying just because Wigan is full of dogs (women) they have an advantage at krufts.
