| I've got a question phil. were the rugby gods punishing you for any unsportsman like play by ending your career with a neck injury?

From his column on sky sports...
www.skysports.com/opinion/story/ ... 55,00.html
"McGuire's injury could well act as a lesson to any other player watching that it doesn't pay to cheat. Perhaps the rugby Gods have punished him for his unsportsmanlike play."
That wont fire up Leeds much will it? lots of scraps and bans me thinks

Peacock says "For me, the most important thing from all of that was Mark Riddell and Thomas Leuluai standing over Danny while he was lying on the ground calling him a cheat," the 32-year-old told the Yorkshire Post.
"It has gone unmentioned so far but it was one of the softest things I've ever seen on a rugby field. It doesn't get any more cowardly and there's no place for that in our sport.
"Their actions prevented Danny getting treatment for a while and, if we're talking about unsportsmanlike behaviour, that's probably the worst of any.
"I'm sure our lads will remember it going into Saturday's game"
Peacock already having a go at Wigan calling them cowardly and the Leeds team wont forget it...
Should be a cracker shame i'm at a wedding on Saturday night..

| IMO clarke has been ok since he joined the sky team but this year i think he's become a top class idiot!
He trys to be clever in the things he says and all the crap stats he spouts.
On the other hand i think barrie mac is very very good on sky.

Other way round for me. Barrie Mac should be ditched - too flat cap and whippets - whereas Clarkey can actually do stuff like string sentences together and produce points of interest. Plus, Clarkey has loved Saints loads and so I really don't know why anyone on here would want him gone.
This is still an embarrassing thread.

I agree with most of that. Used to think Clarke was ok, but over the last few years hes quickly gone down hill. Obviously he's always been biased but it was never blatantly obvious like it is now, you could tell but it was never anywhere near as bad as it is now. When Wigan play, he talks about them and doesn't even mention the opposition most of the time. And as you say, the stats he comes out are complete rubbish half the time. Every time a team does something good 'This team are the best team at having dummy runners' (example).
McDermott can be funny and doesn't sound uncomfortable, shame he brings that idiot (O'Connor) with him. He's awful.

| There isnt a hope in Hell wigan will beat Leeds now. Leeds have what wigan dont have, an unbreakable team spirit. Wigan are still a team of mercenaries that have benefited from a half decent coach and their 2 main rivals, being decimated by injuries. The disgusting comments from the wigan "fans" and from phil clarke is all the motivation they need. Peacock says it wont be motivation but I tell you now, of course it will.
Leeds are still the team to beat and it will be a Saints v Leeds final again

| When Clarke first joined the commentary team, I liked his imput. Basically, he used to clarify the rules when stevo was ranting bollox.
Since they pushed him down this statisticians road, I'm less enamoured.

I'm with you on that, although overall I don't mind him.
Eddie's been doing my head in lately. I couldn't believe it when there was a kick to level the Wigan v Leeds playoff match in the last couple of minutes of what had been a thrilling game, and he was banging on about irrelevant records and trying to engage Brian Carney in banter about how he always hexes kickers.
There's a game on Eddie, it's not about you, mate.

| I am just as biased as Phil Clarke, only I'm very much Old Faithful for the Hull FC, so I can forgive Phil's blatent love of his Wigan. I cannot however stand the un-mentioned, but so obvious to all genuine League fans, the love for Warrington. As we just have to turn the sound down (mute) I wish Sky would inform their commentators to restrict their constant babbling to the game that is being paid for at that time. By the time the mute button is reached a portion of the game is lost whilst Eddie grabs a guests knee!! Please Sky, get this sorted. Or should we start a poll to hammer a point home?.......grannyfan Cindy
BTW Saints, the best of luck for this weekend -and hope the ref. takes the view of one of our old stalwart -Ronnie Campbell- and shows the teams who is in charge, and therefore DOES NOT ALLOW HUDDERSFIELD TO LAY-ON TILL XMAS!!!
