I'd rather see free flowing, length of the field tries and I'm sure most people would. The flair seems have to have gone from most teams and this has been gradually happening for the last 3 or 4 years now, the speed of the game is extremely slow. Catalans were the only team to bring any entertainment to the Play Offs IMO.

Much of the Huddersfield defence this season was based on 3-4 men 'wrestle type' tackles followed by each man then slowly taking turns rolling off the tackled player, thus allowing the defence to re-form. Referees seem prepared to allow teams to do this rather than go for quick play the balls.'" a quick ptb doesn't develop the game! Teams, esecially halfbacks don't learn how to brake down defences! teams and players will become better! ultimately the game will improve! That's the idea anyway imo!

The RFL had the right idea, they just did it wrong. The PTB speed is [itoo[/i slow and the skill level has gone down. Most teams seem to rely on brute force moreso than they ever did.

now we've got all that fun and games from earlier out the way, you now make sense.. i have no doubt that is the reason why the rugby league are doing it, but is it worth losing 35 weeks of the regular season, for the sake off possibly competing on the international stage..
from what i have heard, the NRL has once again sped up the play the balls, and is far more entertaining than superleague

I must have missed them in the Grand Final. Apart from the odd few, I didn't see that many on the TV games I saw Leeds in either.

but I accept that there arnt as many as previous but I don't think that is a bad thing. I do think teams ate getting better and the comp is tighter!
I'm not trolling when I say this but I can see how it would be frustrating for saints fans as you seem to lack the ability to go the length of the field. as has been said in this thread already, most teams will feel they have a chance of beating you if they can kick deep into your half and keep the pens down.

Why would slowing the PTB down reduce the skill in Rugby League? I'm interested to know. Genuinely.
Because, just playing Devil's advocate here, but if you make it too [ieasy[/i to make metres from a constantly retreating defensive line, wouldn't that vastly reduce the skill in the game?

No longer will teams march up field with scoots from dummy half against a defence that cannot be set. It was getting like basketball. Roby was the games best player tother year. A failed half back who was nippy out of dummy half coming off the bench. Says it all.

But how long will this revolution take? If it carries on like last season, who will watch it?
And you may need to inform the teams of the plans, as none of them are attempting to do anything to break down defenses, preferring the safety of 5 drives and a kick and applying pressure. Yawn.
