When did Saints last appoint a British coach.
Potter was never a head coach in Australia.

| Its like 2000 all over again. I dont know why the warrington fans get so much stick for their year of the wolf, considering wigan fans have been saying its the year of the warrior for nigh on 10 years now.

Potter had been a head coach for a couple of years somewhere though hadn't he.
Hanley was the last home grown appointment - but he was quite useful in his one year
As long as the RFL are consistent (ha! two words that do not go together) with all future appointments i don't see any issue with it.
Matt Elliot, Brian Noble, Tony Smith, Shaun McRae, Mick Potter all had no Head Coach experience when they got their first jobs in SL - all didn't exactly make a bad first of it either.

i can confirm that all of our players will be 1 year older in 2010 than they were in 2009.

| Quote: Billinge_Lump "They've got to two semi finals this year, they haven't under achieved that much.
Nobles inability to get them anywhere near the top 2 and then left them with too much to do in the play offs has cost him his job.
If this bloke is any good, and if he's been the assistant coach at Melbourne he will be, and can deal with the step up to head coach Wigan will be pretty dangerous next year. They'll also have a number of players playing for new contracts which means there'll be far better performances from some of their more underachieving players.'"
You speak the truth my learned friend, that Grade 10 must really be working for you Reveen

Not forgetting the fact we have already strengthened for next season in the areas we have been hit hardest this year, adding an experienced prop, a Kiwi international centre & have the current England hooker returning and our 4 or 5 very promising youngsters getting more experience.
While Wigan have lost their most destructive and influential forward for 2 years and have a chairman telling the new coach there can be no more signings.
Don't get me wrong i will openly admit I am impressed with the Wigan appointment it is very promising but i'm not sure the tide has turned just yet.

My original statement came directly from the comments on your own board so maybe i was being optimistic to believe some of them.
Nothing in that article suggests any one will be signed though just a few maybe's and what if's he goes as far as to say its odds against anyone coming in for 2010.
2011 i'd expect to see a proper change in the squad - unless MM works miracles with the current bunch
